Wokha, October 24 (MExN): In a massive combat to fight against Measles and Rubella disease, the Health & Family Welfare Department Wokha District had to struggle with the false and negative rumours at the initial stage of the Measles and Rubella Vaccination Campaign.
Nonetheless, due to timely intervention of the District Administration, Education Department and Social Welfare Department and the enthusiast attitude of the health personnel led to the vaccination of 15779 children out of the targeted 17681 children in the District, informed Mhonbeni Ezung, Media Officer, NHM Wokha in a press release.
The District vaccination coverage has reached 89% as on October 24. Out of 53 schools at urban, 24 schools have achieved 100% coverage.
Working hand in hand with the District Administration headed by Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman District Health Society, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon (IAS) block ADCs and EACs, are extending their support visiting schools and outreach sessions sites for monitoring supervision and also motivating and convincing the hesitant/reluctant parents and village community leaders regarding the deadly killer Measles Rubella disease, and to bring their children for vaccination, the Media Officer stated.
Daily review meetings of CMO, Dy CMO, Programme Officers, MOs with the District Administrators, Principals and headmasters are conducted both at the Urban and block to tackle the refusal villages and schools for the second sessions.
“As the campaign is progressing the District is hopeful to achieve the target as parents are coming to the fixed session sites at the CHCs and PHCs at the blocks, Dr. Motsuo Memorial District Hospital, Town Sub-centre near CMO office and Wokha village Sub-centre for vaccination,” the Media Officer added.
