Popular Naga musician Alobo Naga launched a new branch of Musik-A (Alobo Naga School of Music) at Chümoukedima town (2nd Gate near Nagaland Police Central School), on Saturday.

The new branch, a collaboration with Casio, the global manufacturer of pianos and keyboards, was inaugurated by Advisor, Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), Theja Meru.

Congratulating Alobo on the opening of the Musik-A branch, the Advisor TaFMA termed Alobo as “Nagaland’s biggest music export” and expressed optimism that many budding young musicians would emerge from the school.

Theja said though the COVID-19 pandemic has proved to be a major challenge to the music industry, but local musicians in the state have remained positive and enterprising and excelled even during this time.

He said lockdown has turned out to be a productive time especially for young Naga musicians and citied the examples of some young Naga artistes who have earned accolades both in the national and international music scenes during the pandemic period.

The TaFMA Advisor said the pandemic has brought the artistic community alive and musicians Alobo Naga have been on the forefront of this surge in musical activities in the state.

Theja stated that in the last few months, virtual shows have brought not just Nagaland or the region but the world together. He also highlighted on the various musical activities and events undertaken by TaFMA to keep the musical flame burning during the pandemic.

Alobo Naga in his introductory note said the opening of the new branch of Musik-A was a part of his vision to leave something to society long after he exited the musical arena.

A host of invitees including SDO (C) Chümoukedima, Thejavizo Nakhro, public leaders of the town and well wishers attended the launching event.
