Kohima, October 7 (MExN): Project Director, NSACS, Dr Ngangshimeren, delivering his keynote address at the 8th edition of NSACS Multimedia Campaign asserted the need to focus on young people in order to address the issue of HIV while stating that 60% of the people living with HIV/AIDS are from the age group of 15-34 in the state. “We need to explore more youth friendly activities for HIV/AIDS Control Program,” he said.
The Campaign with an aim to create HIV & AIDS awareness through music was held at the Heritage, Kohima on October 6, a release from NSACS stated.
Further referring to the Multimedia Campaign being organized with the support of National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), he said the impact of campaign through music cannot be belittled.
“We all know that for many years, North East has been the home for HIV/AIDS,” he pointed out and added that NACO felt that music is one medium to capture young people. Realizing this need, he said, NACO has provided the platform of Multimedia Campaign since 2009 exclusively for North East.
