The long-neglected road from the KVK farm to Chingmelen village has been improved after more than four decades. The project, part of the SASCI (2023-2024) initiative, was inaugurated by Imtichoba, Member of Legislative Assembly, Government of Nagaland, as the special guest on July 9.

Imtichoba stated in his speech that he and the RPI (A) area party president had discussed the need to improve the road, and assured the public that the task would be completed. He emphasised the significance of the development, noting, “It is for everyone, a good opportunity for opening marketing sheds, as the road also provides access to new districts like Shamator and Noklak.”

He encouraged the villagers, saying, “We can see development in many areas now, but the most important is to have our mindset improved and think ahead.”

The event began with a reception for the special guest and his entourage by the Nagaland Village Guard, Chingmelen unit, at the welcome gate. MLA Imtichoba unveiled the monolith, and a dedication prayer was pronounced by S Nochichung, Pastor of Chingmelen Baptist Church.

The inaugural programme was led by Thongsomong, Assistant General Secretary of the Area RPI (A). During the ceremony, Er ThungpangChongshen, Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B), highlighted the project's cost, while C. Akum Chang, Area President of RPI (A), expressed the community's relief and joy over the long-awaited improvement of the road. “It is a dream come true,” he said, describing the project as a long-desired aspiration.

C Chongpo Limba and his friends performed a song, T Leongba, Head GB, delivered the vote of thanks and welcome note by C Shenochu VCC. The invocation was said by S Yanchumong, Deacon, and the benediction prayer was pronounced by K KhongyangTonyu, Associate Pastor Women, Chingmelen Baptist Church.
