In what could be considered a considerable jump from previous years, a total of Rs 36.6 crore under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) have been committed during the Nagaland CSR & Investment Conclave 2022.
This denotes a 925.21% increase from the corporates’ spending the State received as of March 31, 2022, though lower than the expectation of Rs 160 crore, a state official cited prior to the conclave. In 2021-22 fiscal year, Nagaland received Rs 3.57 crore under CSR.
However, there would be more soon, over and above the commitment during the conclave, informed Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman during a media interaction in Chümoukedima on August 24.
A total of 36 projects, amounting to Rs 36.6 crore have been committed, she said, while lauding the Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s ‘one-call’ and organising the conclave in Kohima.
‘One-call from chief minister early this year has gotten quite a big number givers and as a result, there are quite a few projects,’ she said.
This are only committed projects. There are lots over and above that amount, she noted adding that some investor did not come as the projects have not been completely presented to them, but “they're ready with the money.”
