Kohima, August 20 (MExN): The Department of Higher Education, Nagaland has invited application from students studying theology under UGC recognized universities for Post-Matric Scholarship 2018-19. The Director, Higher Education has informed students to apply online at www.nagaland.gov.in. The last date for online application is August 30, it informed. Rio condoles demise of Longkei Phom
Kohima, August 20 (MExN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has condoled the demise of Longkei Phom, wife of Sochet Phom and mother of S Pangnyu Phom, Minister for Health and Family Welfare who passed away today in Dimapur at the age of 92.
Rio in a condolence message stated that “Late Longkei Phom was born in 1925 and was one of the first converts to embrace Christianity from Yachem Village. As the wife of the first pastor from the village, she played a tremendous role of moulding not only her own children but those from the entire village and beyond.”
“She was an exemplary and God-fearing mother whose contribution to society is evident from the careers of her children and she was blessed with good health and long life,” he further stated.
The CM meanwhile prayed for the family members to find strength and solace in the grace of almighty God and for the departed soul to rest in peace.
ANGDA 37th Annual General Conference

SUPCC elects new office bearers
Dimapur, August 20 (MExN): The election commission of Public College of Commerce has elected new executive council members of the Students’ Union Public College of Commerce (SUPCC) for the academic year 2018-19. The election commission has elected Kanato H. Yepthomi as President, Tovi H. Chophi as general secretary, Biren Thapa as finance secretary, Surojit Chakraborty as games & sports secretary, Aman Debnath as education secretary and Dipok Chetri as publicity & information secretary.
KDVA meeting
Kohima, August 20 (MExN): The Kohima District Volleyball Association (KDVA) will be having its general body meeting on August 24, 3:00 pm at TU Building. Visasielie Suhu, President and Notsol Neikha, General secretary, KDVA in a press release informed all KDVA members to attend the meeting positively. It further informed that the association will be celebrating its Foundation Day on September 8. It will also be organizing the Open Kohima District Volleyball Tournament 2018 in November under the theme “Transcending through Sports”.
