DAWN informs on workshop cum Fingerlings release
Wokha, August 28 (MExN): The District Anglers' Wokha Nagaland (DAWN) in association with Department of Fisheries and Aquatics Resources, Government of Nagaland will be organizing a workshop cum fingerlings fish release programme on September 1, 9:00 am at Doyang lake (the Woods). DAWN President KN Mhonthung Lotha, Secretary Org & Events Khyolamo Humtsoe and General Secretary Chumbemo T Ngullie in a release stated that the workshop is being organized with the aim to encourage sustainable fishing methods, stop destructive fishing and use of dynamite and chemicals. It has, therefore, asked the Doyang Fishermen Association, Fish Mongers Union and all the surrounding villages of Doyang lake to attend the workshop compulsorily with two delegates each. The association has further invited all interested fishing community in the state to come and benefit from the workshop.
FGN condemns immersion of former PM’s ashes
Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has condemned the act of immersing the ashes of former Prime Minister Vajpayee in a river in Nagaland. A release from the Ministry through its Kilonser, Capt. (Retd) Yirei Lungleng stated that the act was a “despicable act of arrogance on the part of India and is a serious insult to the Naga people and the Naga Nation.” “It is not only an insult to the Naga people, but the whole of Christians, it said. The ministry also conveyed its appreciation to all councils, organizations, associations, churches and fellow Naga Christians who opposed the act.
NPP Foundation Day on Sept 1
Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): National People’s Party, Nagaland State will celebrate the “NPP Foundation Day” on the September 1 along with the rest of the country. The day will also commemorate the birth anniversary of NPP founding leader and Padma Vibhushan Late PA Sangma, former Lok Sabha Speaker, a release from Ricky Ozukum, IPR Secretary, NPP State Unit informed in a press release. District units have further been informed to observe the NPP Foundation Day at their respective district headquarters on that day.
Patton congratulates Conrad
Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): The Deputy Chief Minister and BLP Leader (BJP) Nagaland, Y Patton has expressed his happiness over the victory of Conrad K Sangma for winning the South Tura by-election from National People's Party. Patton in a press statement stated that his victory reflects the trust and confidence of the people in his leadership. While congratulating him, Patton also wished that the Meghalaya Government under the dynamic and abled leadership of Conrad Sangma deliver stable and people’s welfare oriented government and further conveyed his optimism that his leadership will further pave way for better coordination amongst the leaders of the north-eastern states.
NSCN (IM) warns on sale of drugs/alcohol
Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): NSCN (IM) has warned of illegal activities of drug abuse and selling of alcohol being practiced in Rengma area, especially around Tseminyu town. Ruyelo Thong Seb, Caretaker, Central Administrative Officer, Rengma region in a release said that anybody found indulging in such activities within the said jurisdiction will be seriously dealt with.

LBCD Ex Pastor passes away
Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): Lotha Baptist Church Diphupar Ex Pastor Wozamo Humstoe passed away at Zion hospital Dimapur on August 26 after a brief illness. He served as LBCD Pastor from 1984 to 2000, a DIPR release here stated. Lt Pastor Wozamo Humstoe was the 1st theologian, 1st Pastor and also the 1st evangelist of Koro village, the release said. He served the ministry for 40 years. The funeral service of Wozamo Humstoe was held at LBCD on August 27. Many who spoke during the funeral service described him as a “passionate mission worker, honest, and a humble person with a forgiving heart.” He leaves behind his wife, four sons, a daughter and grandchildren.
PVBC father’s camp held
Kohima, August 28 (MExN): The Phek Village Baptist Church conducted Father’s Camp from August 23 to 26 last at Phek village. The main speakers of the four day long camp included Rev Dr.Chekrovei Cho-o, Professor, Practical Theology, OTS, Bade, Dimapur, Rev V.Epao, Pastor, Emmanuel Baptist Church Pfutsero and Zhievesa Nienu, Senior Pastor, Phek Basa Baptist Church. The camp was marked by devotional time, gospel service, discussion hour, khel wise competition and group sharing.
