Workshop for Secretariat special pool drivers on Sept 26 & 27

Kohima, September 23 (MExN): The Secretariat Transport Special Pool, Nagaland Civil Secretariat is conducting a one-day workshop on “A Role Model Driver: Etiquette & Expectations” and “Road Safety Awareness” for the drivers of Secretariat Transport Special Pool in two batches on September 26 and 27, 10:30 am onwards at the Secretariat Conference Hall, Kohima. A release from Transport Officer & Deputy Secretary, Transport Department, Samson Sekhose has informed all VIPs and officers to allow the Special Pool Drivers attached to them attend the workshop on the allotted dates.  

Programme on sustainable horticulture in Kohima

Kohima, September 23 (MExN): Directorate of Horticulture has informed that a programme on “Bridging the gap towards sustainable horticulture in Nagaland” under the patronage of Governor PB Acharya will be held on September 24 at 11:00 am at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima. A press release by DIPR stated that Advisor, Horticulture, Mhathung Yanthan will give the keynote address and special invitee, Atul R Patwardhan, Chindamani Consultancy & Services, Pune will be the resource person. There will be in-depth interaction with the state horticulture department officials, farmers, entrepreneurs, NGOs and the banking institutions regarding the present horticulture scenario in the state, it further stated.  

NCRC prayer meeting from Sept 28

Kohima, September 23 (MExN): Nagaland Christian Revival Church (NCRC) PR Hill Kohima, Prayer Centre for Nagaland will be organizing monthly prayer meeting from September 28 to 30, 10:00 am and 4:00 pm respectively. The main speakers will be Pastor Yangulie Sanchu, NCRC PR Hill, Kohima and Pastor Thekruzhu Khana, Gariphema CRC, a press release here informed. Lord’s Supper will be administered on Saturday morning service and healing service on Sunday evening service. The program committee has invited all to attend.  

NNC condoles demise of Gen Yibenthung Kikon

Dimapur, September 23 (MExN): The NNC Parent Body has condoled the demise of late Major General Yibenthung Kikon at his native village after prolonged illness on September 19. “He was in Naga Army since 1956 and was one of the longest serving Naga army in Eastern command in Konyak Region,” a condolence note from the NNC Parent Body, Info & Publicity Wing stated. “The NNC Parent Body salutes this noble soul in eternal peace for the service of Naga people and nation. We pray to God Almighty to grant solace to the family at this time of grief and sorrow,” it added.  

NSCN (IM) grieves demise of Kilonser Zhukiye Awomi

Dimapur, September 23 (MExN): NSCN (IM) has condoled the demise of Late Lt Col (Retd.) Zhukiye Awomi, Kilonser under the Union Territory on September 22. He suffered a cardiac arrest and breathed his last at a hospital in Bangalore. “He joined the National Service on January 8, 1985. He was a man of integrity and a devoted national worker who stood through thick and thin in the National Struggle and served the nation in various capacities until his demise. His contribution to the Naga cause shall ever be honored and cherished by all,” a release issued by its MIP said.” The party also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members of the late Kilonser.  

KLC debate competition discusses social issues

Kohima, September 23 (MExN): Red Ribbon Club, Kohima Law College organized a debate competition on the theme “Developing young leaders of our society" at the college premises on September 19 with Assistant Professor Kezhokhoto Savi and Assistant Professor Moasenla as Judges. The topics were ‘Is section 377 of Indian Penal Code a boon or a curse for the Nagas? ; Has Nagaland Liqour Total Prohibition Act, 1989 led to any positive behavioral and social change?; and Is there stigma and discrimination prevailing in our Naga society with regard to HIV-AIDS? A press release by Kezhokhoto Savi Assistant Professor stated that the cash prizes were given away by the Nodal Officer and Assistant Professor Soni Tep.
