
NCSU reiterates demand for open tenders
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Contractors’ & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) has reiterated its demand to stop table tender and works execution by various departments, “as it is total violation of Government standing order.” A press note from the NCSU meanwhile extended its support to the Nagaland Chief Minister’s move to insist on floating open tender for construction and renovation of all district and sub-division HQ roads in Nagaland which was published in all local news paper last Saturday. The union also supported the state government’s move to scrutinize while allotting works to contractors based on merit without any partiality. It meanwhile asked all departments to strictly follow the government standing order by inviting open tender in all contract and supply works to avoid legal action. It further directed all districts NCSU units to “mobilise evolution duty in their respective districts and report the information to the head office.”
NST Dmp-Shillong bus service resumes from Oct 5
Dimapur, October 1 (MExN): Nagaland State Transport (NST) will resume the night bus service of Dimapur- Shillong and vice-versa from October 5. A release from NST, Assistant General Manager, Thomas Y Kiutsangmong informed that departure timing will be 4:00 pm both for Old NST Dimapur Station and MSTC Shillong Station. It has further informed that the fare rate is Rs 500 per ticket which will be available from Old NST Dimapur Station and ISBT and MSTC counter, Shillong. The service will ply via Jaklabandha/Numaligarh daily.
NPCB limits bursting of firecrackers
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 1 (MExN): The Nagaland State Pollution Control Board (NPCB) today issued a notice on the use of fire crackers. The NPCB informed that bursting of crackers during the night i.e. from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am is not permitted and that fire crackers above 125 decibels are banned. In order to use firecrackers, the NPCB informed that prior permission has to be taken from the concerned administration who will give permission to carry out bursting of fireworks specifying the time and place (away from hospitals, schools. residential areas). It was further informed that wide publicity should be given prior to the event to avoid public panic in the vicinity and to maintain congenial environment, prevent annoyance, disturbance and discomfort to the public.
Planning & Coordination Minister resents BROs careless approach
Kohima, October 1 (MExN): Minister for Planning & Co-Ordination and Land Revenue, Neiba Kronu has expressed his resentment at the careless approach of the Border Road Organization (BRO) for giving false promises and gross neglect of NH-29 (Kohima-Jessami) especially in Pfutsero main town. Speaking during the statewide mass social work held on September 29 in Pfutsero, the Minister specifically pointed to the NST Location & CHC/Prayer Centre area where plying of vehicles is highly treacherous in the rainy season. He urged the Border Road Organization (BRO) authorities to immediately address the issue, stating that if not they may invite public wrath.
Phek donates Rs 25023 to Kiphire
Phek, October 1 (MExN): The Phek District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) and Phek Town Chakhesang Students Union (PTCSU) organized an open air charity concert in aid of landslide affected people of Kiphire district on September 25 at Phek. Two local bands and more than 20 local artists, dancers and a beat boxer performed at the concert. A total amount of Rs.25,023 was collected during the concert.
DCCI informs on cleanliness drive
Dimapur, October 1 (MExN): Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has informed all business establishment and shops to observe cleanliness drive at home and business establishment from 7:00-10:00 am on October 2 to observe Swatch Bharat Day, DCCI President Akashe Zhimomi informed in a press release.
Pensioners informed on annual physical verification
Kohima, October 1 (MExN): All pensioners drawing pension from Kohima North Treasury has been informed that as per CTR 368 the annual physical verification for the current year 2018 will be conducted for Life pensioners from October 8- 22 and Family pensioners from October 23-30, 12:00 pm onwards. All concerned pensioners have been informed to check their serial numbers and date in the notice board, which will be verified in sequence, and come with the original documents and necessary certificates for family pensioners, a release from Senior Treasury Officer, Kohima (North) P Ajung Amer informed. The contact number of those pensioners unable to come on genuine reasons should be submitted to this office whereby an officer will be sent for physical verification. No payment will be made without annual physical verification.
ASUK to observe Students Day
Kohima, Octopber 1 (MExN): Ao Students Union Kohima (ASUK) will be observing the Students Day on October 2, 10:00 am at Molu Ki, Paramedical Colony, Kohima. Director, IPR, Limawati Ao will be the main speaker on the occasion. According to a press release, SDO (C) Jakhama, Alemyapang Walling will exhort the gathering. Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Kohima (AKTK) Meritorious Award will also be awarded to on the occasion.
Sumi-ki Foundation stone to be laid on October 6
Dimapur, October 1 (MExN): Western Sumi Hoho has informed all its Frontal Organizations and Area Chairmen under Western Sumi jurisdiction that the Foundation Stone laying programme of Sumi-Ki at Chekiye village near Chekiye ground will be held on October 6, 10:00 am. Lok Sabha MP Tokheho Yepthomi will lay the foundation stone. The Hoho has requested all members and individuals to attend the function without fail.
CNC National Workers' Consecration Day on Oct 7
Dimapur, October 1 (MExN): Council of Nagalim Churches (CNC) has decided, in a meeting that the first Sunday of October will be observed as National Workers' Consecration Day. Rev Seksim Kasar General Secretary, CNC in a press release has informed all national workers of NSCN (IM) to sanctify themselves and remain in fasting and prayer on that day. It further informed that CAOs will undertake program in their respective regions, and likewise, the Army unit Commanders with their chaplains in their respective units. Those who cannot attend in region/unit churches or CHQ church shall take up prayer program with fasting at their respective homes.
Special remission of prisoners on October 2
Kohima, October 1 (MExN): Home Department, in an order, stated that in commemoration of the ensuing 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2, the State Government has decided to grant special remission to certain categories of prisoners who have consistently maintained over all good conduct during their term in prisons. The State Level Committee on the recommendation of the Director General of Prisons examined and decided to release following convicted prisoners; Vekhozo, Pranab Dutta, and Mamumkhubo from Central Jail, Dimapur; Longti Sangtam and Seyuba Sangtam from District Jail, Kiphire; and Dilip Orang from District Jail, Dimapur.
