Kohima Police seize liquor

Kohima, October 2 (MExN): South Police Station, Kohima Police on special duty conducted raids at suspected liquor joints and recovered eight cases of IMFL comprising two cases of beer and six cases of Rum from a store on September 30 at South Point Market. A press release from Kohima Police informed that one Khriebu Angami (29) was arrested in this connection and a case under NLTP Act was registered for further investigation. In another case, Kohima Police personnel while conducting routine MVCP at Para Medical Junction on October 1 intercepted a vehicle and recovered assorted IMFL comprising of eight cases of beer and four cases of Rum. Two persons, D Khosu (30), and SP Solomi (40) were arrested and a case under the NLTP Act was accordingly registered.  

Dimapur Hindi Institute to celebrate Jubilee

Dimapur, October 2 (MExN): Government Hindi Institute, Dimapur will be celebrating its Golden Jubilee on November 2. Temjen Imna Along, Minister Higher and Technical Education, Government of Nagaland and K Tokugha, (IAS) Advisor, Department of School Education, Government of Nagaland will be special invitees for the occasion. A release from Golden Jubilee Committee Convener Gulab Chandra and Co-Convener AS Yarthotngam has also invited all Diploma Holders (Alumni) of Hindi Teachers Training Institute (HTTI) or Government Hindi Institute, Dimapur to attend the programme.  

NCSU Peren supports demand to stop table tender

Peren, October 2 (MExN): Nagaland Contractors' & Suppliers' Union (NCSU), Peren Unit has affirmed its support to its central body’s demand for “an end to table tender which is a violation of government standing order.” A press release from its President Pausap Ndang stated that “In the opinion of the union, table tenders have been apparent in districts and some departments which have not been following open tender system for contract and supply works.” The Peren unit, through the release further demanded various departments to follow suit and practice open tender system which will be beneficial and fair for the competent contractors and for the state as a whole for development. It also asserted that it has firmly resolved to comply and adhere to mobilize evolution duty and report it to the head office. Meanwhile, the unit also extended its support and welcomed the Chief Minister’s decision to float open tender for construction and renovation of all district and sub-division HQ roads.  

ICU at District Hospital Tuensang before March next

Tuensang, October 2 (MExN): The Tuensang Chamber of Commerce and Industries (TCCI) organized ‘Save a Life’ at Tuensang town parade ground on September 30 in aid of the Intensive Care Unit construction at District Hospital Tuensang. A press release from the President of Chang Tribal Council (CTC) informed that several individuals, NGOs and societies participated and donated for the noble cause. The press release in particular mentioned that Commander Brigadier Suresh Kumar Shoram of the 7th sector Assam Rifles volunteered to donate all necessary ICU equipments at the cost of Rs. 52 lakhs and also handover a cheque of one lakh to the President of CTC. The TCCI has committed to complete the ICU before March next for the service of the public with full facility, the release added.  

KTC asks Airtel to improve service at Noklak

Noklak, October 2 (MExN): Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) has appealed the Airtel Company to improve its network service. The KTC in a letter addressed to the company issued by its President L Ngon and General Secretary B Khumeng stated that inspite of an Airtel Tower set up at Noklak, the service has been very inconsistent and worse in the evening. “The present network does not even have 2G net for which we request you to improve and upgrade to 4G net because for every information and purposes we depend and need good network service,” they mentioned in the release. It further mentioned that in view of the Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) organizing Tsokum cum Mini Hornbill Festival from October 3-5 at Noklak, is also expecting various dignitaries and tourist from across the country during the festival. Therefore, it appealed the concerned authority to do the needful before the festival.
