Disaster Management workshop held at SJC Jakhama

Dimapur, October 11 (MExN): A one-day workshop on disaster management was organized by the 1 Nagaland Girls’ Battalion NCC, SJC, Jakhama at St. Joseph’s College on October 5. Based on the division of the whole college (3,546 students) into 3 groups, the workshop was conducted at 3 venues of the College – Bishop Abraham Memorial Indoor Stadium, Basketball Court & Auditorium. Senior Under Officer Veihunai Alice chaired the introductory session and Reverend Dr Sebastian Ousepparampil, the Principal, gave the welcome and introductory note. The resource persons were Victor Kevilhouthie Yhome, District Project Associate for Kohima District, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority; Thejangulie Zao, District Disaster Management Officer, Kohima; and SI Vingutuo, Platoon Commander, Home Guard & Civil Defence.  

Nagaland team attends Sustainable Mountain Development

Dimapur, October 11 (MExN): A team from Nagaland attended the Sustainable Mountain Development Summit from October 3-5 at Solan and Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. The team was lead by IMI Councillor, Nagaland Alemtemshi Jamir; Phangnon Konyak, SDFN Council Member; Thungdemo Ovung, Hi-tech farmer; Peihauding and Zenwang Konyak, young innovators working on developing bio-enhancers and bio-pesticides. A press release from Phangnon Konyak stated that Alemtemshi Jamir delivered the keynote address on "Social Drivers of Change" at the technical session on October 4 at Shoolini University. The team members also shared "Youth Prospectives on the future of farming in the Himalayan region" during the session.  

NNC, FGN to observe Martyr’s Day on Oct 18

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 11 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) informed that it along with the Naga National Council (NNC) would observe the 67th Martyr’s Day of the Naga Nation on October 18 at 10:00am in the Transit Peace Camp, Kohima. A press note from FGN Secretary, Thihu Khamo informed all to participate in the function and pay homage.  

WCYO initiates fund raising

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 11 (MExN): The Western Chakhesang Youth Organization (WCYO) is raising fund through washing cars and opening food stalls at 4th mile Diphupar, Khamo Car Wash from 7:00am onwards. The fund raising is being held in view of the upcoming biennial sports week from January 7 to 12, 2019.  

World Mental Health Day observed in Peren

PEREN, OCTOBER 11 (MExN): The Peren District Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the Peren Students Union observed Mental World Health Day on October 10 at All saint Higher Secondary School Peren. During the program, Panel Lawyer Indaulak spoke on the importance of mental health in the fast changing world.  

RTI awareness prog held in Peren

PEREN, OCTOBER 11 (MExN): As part of the celebration of RTI week from October 5 to 12, Peren district conducted a one-day awareness programme under the theme ‘Right to information and Role of Citizens’ on October 11 at the ADC Conference Hall old Peren Town. EAC Peren (Prob), Menlom Phom chaired the programme. ADC Peren, SaritaYadav, IAS and Asuni Newmai, Panel Lawyer, Peren District Legal Services spoke on the theme of the day emphasizing on the application of RTI and its importance in a citizen’s life. They encouraged the officials to maintain transparency in delegating their duties and further stressed on the importance of processing all RTI application within the stipulated time.
