1st state level indigenous games competition

Kohima, December 12 (MExN): The Department of Youth Resources & Sports is organizing the 1st State Level Indigenous Games competition in commemoration of Dr T Ao birth centenary from December 13 to 14 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. The Advisor, Youth Resources & Sports, Zale Neikha will grace the inaugural function as the special guest while Director Youth Resources & Sports, Akumla Chuba will be the special guest at the valedictory function.  

Sensitization program on BBBP at Meluri

Meluri, December 12 (MExN): Meluri subdivision will be organizing a sensitizing program on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) on December 13, 10:00 am at the town hall with ADC Meluri, Rhosietho Nguori as the chairperson. Riechutshu woman President St Michael Church Khumiasu will deliver a keynote address. N Nyamok Konyak, NCS will share on the topic "Status of woman and gender issue". Janathara Begum Assistant Teacher will share on "Empowerment of women through Education". Dr Khrieno Tachu, Medical Officer will share on "women's health and safety". Folk song will be presented by Khumiasu women and benediction by Siethochu, Associate Pastor (women) Meluri Village Baptist Church.  

Chetheba town youth day begins

Kohima, December 12 (MExN): The 38th session youth day of Chetheba Town Youth Organisation got underway at Chetheba Local Ground on December 12 with Zhothisa Dawhuo, director, Nagaland State Lotteries as the special guest. Dawhuo stressed on the need to keep the culture alive, saying “without culture we do not have an identity.” He challenged the players to be humble in their approach and pursue their dreams effectively. CTYO president Vesuta Medeo in his presidential address said that the youth day was just a beginning for sports event as they will be choosing the best athletes to represent the town in the upcoming 49th games and sports meet 2019 of Chokri Area Games and Sports Association scheduled on January 4 to be held at Khulazu Basa. Vemutha Swuro, games & sports secretary CTYO administered oath to the participating teams.  

NCP Nagaland celebrates Pawar’s 78th birthday

Kohima, December 12 (MExN): The Nagaland Unit of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) along with the rest of the country celebrated the 78th Birthday of Sharad Pawar (National President, NCP) on December 12. To mark the occasion, the state unit organized party function at its party office, Jail colony- Kohima. Vanthungo Odyuo (President, NCP Nagaland Unit) addressed the gathering highlighting on the political career, contributions and achievement of Sharad Pawar chiefly in the political circuit at national level, a press release from Vanthungo Odyuo, President NCP Nagaland informed. The Nagaland Unit NCP rank and file also extended best wishes to its National Party President while also prayed for long, healthy life and continue to lead the party to greater height.  

St John College holds skill development programme

Dimapur, December 12 (MExN): A programme on Skill Development course was held in St John College, Dimapur on December 11 at the college auditorium. The programme commenced with an invocation by Inali (EU member) followed by an opening speech by Peter Banks (Administrator of St John College) who briefed on the importance of skill development. Dr S T Janetius, Principal of St John College, Dimapur addressed on the necessity to achieve beyond the college certificate and acquire extracurricular skills which St. John as a college stands for. The highlight of the event was the speech given by Rozelle Mero, managing director of The People Channel where she stressed on the importance to invest in oneself by developing skills, experiencing new things and learning from practical work. The programme concluded with a prayer by Sentijungla (EU member).
