JVC cautions trekkers on making fire
Kohima, December 17 (MExN): The Jotsoma Village Council (JVC) has cautioned trekkers to abstain from making fire in the forest during the dry season. In a press release Mego Nagi, Chairman and P. Rino General Secretary, JVC stated that during this season, forest fires can be ignited by the slightest spark which can destroy vegetation completely. The fire that broke out on Mount Pulie Badze on December 16 “by some careless trekkers led to huge forest loss that is being preserved under Jotsoma community reserved forest,” stated the release. It added that a large number of rhododendron tress has been burned down and that Jotsoma Youth Organization and villagers had a hard time extinguishing it which was contained in the evening of December 17. The Council appreciated the Departments of forest, ecology, environment and wildlife, Nagaland for helping in containing the fire.
MCCI lauds action of police
Mokokchung, December 17 (MExN): Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) has lauded the Mokokchung police personnel for their proactive action in apprehending six persons for pilfering domestic LPG on December 15. A press release from President and General Secretary, MCCI added that this was not the first instance that the Mokokchung police have apprehended such offenders. It urged the police not to release the culprits until all due course of law is applied. Further, MCCI requested the police to investigate into the LPG pilferage racket and uproot this menace for good for which MCCI is ready to extend support in all possible way. The release added that though the Police reportedly confirmed the dealer of the LPG cylinders in the case as innocent, it was regretful that the dealer’s name has been tarnished after a video pertaining to the case went viral on various social media platforms. MCCI requested consumers and public in general not to jump to hasty conclusions until due process of law was completed.
Northeast summit on entrepreneurship at Dimapur
Dimapur, December 17 (MExN): The State Government, in collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact organization is organizing a North East Summit with the theme "Developing North East through the Power of Entrepreneurship" on December 20 and 21 at Niathu Resort Dimapur. The Chief Minister will inaugurate the Summit at 3:30 pm on December 20. Since developing entrepreneurship is vital to Nagaland today, the following departments have been requested to attend and be prepared for interaction at the Summit: Industry & Commerce Department; Tourism; Employment & Skill Development; Agriculture; Horticulture; Animal Husbandry & Veterinary; Land Resources Department; Department of Water Resources; Power Department; New & Renewable Energy Department; Geology & Mining/NSMDC; Health & Family Welfare; T & C Department; Transport Department; Higher Education; Women Resource Department; Urban & Municipal Affairs; Planning & Coordination; Department of Water Resources and I&PR.
TSU Night Tuition School culmination prog today
Kohima, December 17 (MExN): The Tsütuonuomia Students’ Union (TSU), T Khel, Kohima Village will be organizing the culmination programme of the Night Tuition School’s 25 years on December 18, 11:00 am at T Khel Indoor Stadium, Kohima Village.
