Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): Nagaland Zoological Park (NZP) is celebrating wildlife week from October 1 to 8 along with the rest of the country under the theme ‘Listening to the young voices’. The weeklong celebration involves different activities to create awareness among the people, especially younger generation. As part of the celebration, the park will be open to all visitors free of charge on Saturday, October 7. There will be wildlife talks by staff of the park and visitors to the zoo to share information, create awareness about wildlife conservation and listen to the voices of the visitors, stated a press release from Obed Bohovi Swu, Assistant Conservator of Forest, NZP. Keeping in view the theme of this year's wildlife week celebration, schools, colleges, and institutions have been specially invited to be a part of the celebration and share views on wildlife conservation during their visit.
NNC/GDRN (N/A) terminates one
Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): The NNC/GDRN (Non Accord) has terminated the service of Major Mongyimpa Chang from Chang Region, Tuensang Command “with immediate effect for indulging in anti-national activities and extortion.” A press statement from its MIP Kilonser, Khehoto Rochill has therefore informed offices/business establishments and public not to entertain or deal with the said person for any purpose relating to NNC/GDRN (N/A).
Excise personnel seize Spasmo Proxyvon
Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): The Narcotic Cell (NC) of the Excise department under the command of Nokcha, AIE seized a total of 2940 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon on October 5 from a residence at Burma Camp, Dimapur. In this connection, one 18-year-old person was arrested and forwarded to judiciary after necessary investigation for trial under the Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940, informed Deputy Commissioner of Excise (NC), Dimapur in a press release.
1st report on gender statistics to be released
Kohima, October 6 (DIPR): The Directorate of Economic & Statistics will be releasing the 1st Report on Gender Statistics Nagaland 2016 at conference hall of the directorate on October 9 at 11:30 am. Commissioner & Secretary, Department of Economic & Statistics, Himato Zhimomi, IFS, will release the report. Kevileno Angami, IES, OSD, Planning & Co-ordination Department will present the gist on gender statistics.
DDSC, DDFA condole
Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): The Dimapur District Sports Council (DDSC) and the Dimapur District Football Association (DDFA) have expressed sadness over the untimely demise of Nizheto Awomi after a brief illness in Kohima on October 4. He was the Assistant Director, Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Nagaland. During his stay in Dimapur as District Sports Officer (DSO), Late Awomi was a very efficient officer and a dedicated person always ready to help the young and aspiring sports person both in his official capacity as well as personally, the DDSC and DDFA said in a joint condolence note. “He will be missed dearly by all of us.” Expressing their deepest condolences to his wife Akala Awomi and children, the DDSC and DDFA prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
