Yung Aung elevated to Chairman/President
Dimapur, August 4 (MExN): The Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) has elevated his current post as “acting Chairman/Acting President of the group to the post of Chairman/President of the NSCN/GPRN.” This decision was taken during emergency meeting on August 5 where the his elevation was “unanimously endorsed by all party members” in accordance with the Yezhabo (Constitution), stated a press declaration issued by Thom, the Kilonser, Law and Justice and Sessional Chairman, Party Emergency Meeting, NSCN/GPRN.
NSF 1st Federal Assembly on August 30
Phek, August 5 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has informed that its 1st Federal Assembly for the tenure of 2019-21 is summoned on August 30 at Zhavame Village, Phek District from 11:00 am, to be hosted by Chakesang Students’ Union (CSU). It further requested all federation Units, subordinate bodies and senior leaders of NSF to reach the venue for the said meeting by August 29.
AIFFSO to observe ‘Quit India Movement’
Kohima, August 5 (MExN): The Office bearers and members of All India Freedom Fighters & Successors Organization (AIFFSO), Nagaland State Unit along with well wishers will be observing the 77th “Quit India Movement on August 9 at 9:00 am, with a 2 minute silence and a short prayer at Sahitya Sabha, P R Hill Kohima Nagaland. This was informed in a press release issued by the Publicity Secretary AIFFSO, Nagaland.
NNC & FGN to celebrate ‘73rd Nagaland Independence Day’
Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): The Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) will celebrate the “73rd Nagaland Independence Day” on August 14 ,at Peace Camp, Chedema, informed a press release issued by the Secretary FGN. It further informed that the celebration will commence at 10:00 am sharp. Retired General, Viyalie Metha, Kedahge of the Federal Government of Nagaland will unfurl the Naga National Flag and address the Nation; Special song, Folk songs and cultural dances will be presented by Church Choir, Regional representatives, Union and Regional dance troupes, followed by a presentation of Awards and promotions. “All the fellow countrymen are therefore cordially invited to participate in the function to grace together,” the release added.
Mokokchung DPDB meet postponed
Mokokchung, August 5 (MExN): Additional Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Manpai Phom has informed the Mokokchung DPDB members that the scheduled meeting of the DPDB Mokokchung for the month of August 2019 has been postponed, till the date and time which will be notified later on accordingly.
Training on cultivation & management of flowers and vegetables
Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): The Department of Horticulture will be organizing a two-day state level training on “cultivation and management of flowers and vegetables under protected condition,” at the Conference Hall from 9:30 am on August 8 and 9. Saveer Biotech Limited Delhi and Meghastar Ago Horti Private Limited Guwahati will be the resource persons for the training. This was informed in a press release issued.
THN half yearly assembly
Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): The half yearly assembly of the Tangkul Hoho Nagaland (THN) will be held on August 17, 11:00 am at Wungram, Purana Bazaar, Dimapur. President, THN in a press release has requested all its members to attend the assembly.
BYO condemns alleged murder of a woman
Peren, August 5 (MExN): The Benreu Youth Organization (BYO) has expressed shock at the unfortunate incident where a woman, a resident of Punglwa village under Peren district, “was allegedly murdered and her body was recovered in a jungle near Gaili Village, on August 2.” The BYO in joint press release issued by its President and Secretary has condemned the “barbaric incident” and urged the law enforcing agencies to “book the culprit/s at the earliest and award befitting punishment as per the law.”The Organization further prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace and expressed their condolences to the bereaved family members in their time of grief.
