Naga Hoho condemns alleged assault by AR
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 12 (MExN): The Naga Hoho today condemned the alleged assault meted out by Assam Rifles personnel to civilians in Zunheboto on August 7. “The barbaric and inhuman act of the Assam Rifles not sparing even women deserves condemnation from all right thinking citizen,” a press release from the Naga Hoho communication stated. It further stated that “the act of creating fear and unrest in the minds of the innocent public” are being “meted out under the guise of the infamous Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).” The Hoho appealed to the concern authority to immediately intervene and ensure that innocent public are safe and free in their own land and take befitting actions against the perpetrators. It may be noted that the Assam Rifles had earlier refuted the allegations that its troops had assaulted civilians.
ANSTA Peren Unit appeals to revoke transfer order
Peren, August 12 (MExN): The All Nagaland School Teacher Association (ANSTA) Peren Unit reiterated that the department concerned is neglecting the issue of transferring one Megosilie Krose G/T (Math) GMS Ngam and Megovizo GT (Math) GMS old Ngaulong to Phek GHSS. ANSTA Peren Unit President, Kaibakam Pamai and General Secretary, Haidun Zeliang in a press release said that the Unit has appealed the department on July 5, 2019 through media requesting to revoke the order of the duo in the interest of the student community. The Unit cited that transferring teachers in a mid-year would adversely affect the career of the students. “If justice is not delivered to the particular school, the ANSTA Peren Unit shall not hesitate to go for necessary step and the department shall be responsible for any consequences,” it stated.
Disability Information Line set up
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 12 (MExN): The Nagaland Government has set up a telephonic information line termed the Disability Information Line (DIL) to provide information on major disabilities. This has been done in order to create awareness among Persons with Disabilities and the community, informed a press release from State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Diethono Nakhro. “Information on causes, prevention, diagnosis, intervention/treatment, aids & appliances, education, employment, list of service providers and government schemes & concessions are available on DIL. To provide state specific information and to provide local language support, DIL has been installed at different regions,” the press release said. The Disability Information Line is accessible round the clock through telephone as it is an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). Service of call attendant is available during working hours. Information can be obtained in English, Hindi and regional language. DIL can be accessed from any part of India by calling the nearest centre. NDPP 2 Dimapur II clarifies
Dimapur, August 12 (MExN): Apropos to the news item ‘NDPP Dimapur office bearers resign’ published on August 11 issue in The Morung Express, the NDPP 2 Dimapur II Assembly unit has clarified that “all the members resigned have claimed to be member of 2 Dimapur II. However, the officer bearers are not at all enrolled either in primary or active membership of the unit. The rejoinder issued by C Imlikumzuk, secretary, I/C media & communication, 2 Dimapur II Assembly unit stated that “claiming to be office bearers are null and void and does not have any weightage.”
