Two apprehended in Wokha
Wokha, February 17 (MExN): The Wokha Circle Students’ Union (WCSU) on Monday apprehended two persons from Wokha Town Municipal Complex for shoplifting and possession of banned drugs. According to a press release, members of the WCSU intervened and apprehended the two persons for assaulting a shop owner and shoplifting a pair of slippers. They were also found to be in possession of 144 capsules of banned Spasmo Proxyvon tablets, the release stated. The two accused were identified as Kitoku Sema and Vikaho. The union filed an FIR and safely handed both the accused to the Wokha police station for further interrogation and necessary action, it said. Meanwhile, the union through its president C. Longshithung Lotha informed that it will keep vigil in its jurisdiction to avoid any untoward incident that hinders the peaceful environment of the citizens.
JCPI urges all apex bodies to attend Feb 18 meeting
DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 17 (MExN): The Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) today reiterated its position that the RIIN is an important basis for protection of the special rights and privileges envisaged in Article 371A and BEFR, 1873 and also for the smooth implementation of ILP in the state of Nagaland. A press release from the JCPI therefore remind all the tribal apex bodies and civil society organizations to attend the scheduled meeting at Saramati Hotel on February 18 at 11:00 am to discuss the future course of action to press the government for total implementation of ILP and RIIN exercise without any further delay.
PTCSU appeals for stable power supply
Kohima, February 17 (MExN): The Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union (PTCSU) has appealed to the Power Department to provide stable power supply during the ongoing HSLC and HSSLC examinations. A press release from the union further wished the students to do well in their ongoing exams.
NSCN (IM) Chakhesang region meets with CPO
Phek, February 17 (MExN): Members of the Chakhesang Region, NSCN (IM) led by Col. (Retd.) Ape Venuh, member of Collective Leadership, met with the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) on January 27 at Red Cross Building, Kohima. Col. (Retd) Zhokhoneiyi Soho, CAO of Chakhesang Region issued a press statement on Monday saying that the CPO responded in a positive manner. “Taking the stand that any Indo-Naga political solution should reflect the spirit of 1951 Plebiscite,” the CPO “emphasized on the urgency for bringing solution that is acceptable to the Nagas’ political aspiration,” Soho added. The release stated that Col. (Retd.) Ape briefed the meeting “to make the Chakhesang people understand the underlying political arrangement with the Government of India.” It said that Col. (Retd.) Ape expounded on the ongoing Indo- Naga political talks and the stand taken by the NSCN (IM)’s negotiating team with reference to the importance of Pan Naga Hoho. “The members attending the meeting showed their appreciation for exhibiting such political determination that does not betray the Naga political aspiration,” the statement read.
