MVC on anomalies in distribution of PDS rice

Dimapur, February 18 (MExN): Medziphema Village Council (MVC) has drawn the attention of the Department of Food and Civil Supplies regarding anomalies in distribution of PDS rice. A press release from Chairman Neikhonyü Kuotsu and Secretary Khriengulie Kapo said that the PDS card holders of other sub-divisions receive 5 kg of rice per head whereas villages under Medziphema sub-division have been receiving 4 kg of BPL rice per head since 2017. Stating that it will no longer be able to stand as mere spectator, urged the department to conduct a proper enquiry into the matter and clarify the reasons for such dispensary under its sub-division. 

 

‘Proposed ZTC not accepted by Zeliang community’

Peren, February 18 (MExN): The Zeliang People’s Organisation (ZPO) today clarified that the proposed formation of the Zeliang Tribal Council (ZTC) on February 21 in Jalukie “is not accepted by the people of Zeliang community.” ZPO, the apex organisation of the indigenous Zeliang people of Peren district in a press release said it was constrained to issue this clarification, as “it has apparent vested interest and political inclination which is divisive and adverse to peaceful and harmonious existence of the community.” Therefore, “whosoever is instrumental in the formation of ZTC shall be held solely accountable and answerable to the community,” the release added.
