Journalists workshop on ‘Pollution: A cause of concern’

Kohima, February 20 (MEXN): The Kohima Press Club (KPC) will be organizing a workshop on the theme "Pollution: A cause of concern" in collaboration with Nagaland Pollution Control Board on February 22, 4:00pm at Eastgate Hotel. Nagaland Pollution Control Board, Member Secretary, Kenei Miachieo will be the resource person. KPC in a press release said the workshop will be followed by interaction/discussion where journalists can ask questions relating to pollution. The interaction will be followed by dinner. KPC has requested all the members of the club both print and electronic and also members who are yet to register to participate in the workshop. Members from DIPR are also to attend the workshop.

 

Four-wheeler & 2 bikes recovered

Dimapur, February 20 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) Union Territory-1 has recovered two bikes – Apache RTR-180, chasis no. MD634KE6xD2D76253, engine no. IN2345 and Bajaj Discover 150, chasis no. MD2A16CZOCPC51477, engine no. JZZDCC08972. NSCN (IM) UT-1 Secretary, John M Yim in a press release also informed that one four wheeler – Innova G, bearing vehicle no. AS-01BL6673, chasis no.MDJ11JV40074704220614 and engine no. 2KDU559886 was recovered. In this regard, the rightful owners have been informed to claim it by producing the original documents within 7 days from the date of this publication.

 

Mokokchung bans hunting of wild animals

Mokokchung, February 20 (MExN): In view of the spread of Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) in China and other part of the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared it a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). In this connection, Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Limawabang Jamir has issued order, banning the hunting of wild animals in Mokokchung district with immediate effect, stating that hunting activities increases the chances of contact of wild animals and wild animal products with humans. Therefore, any individual/group/organization found indulging in hunting activities will be punished as per the Wild Life Production Act, 1972.

 

Assorted IMFL seized

Dimapur, February 20 (MExN): A joint raid was conducted in and around Dimapur town area by three combined units of the Department viz, Mobile Squad, Narcotic Cell and Dimapur Excise on February 18. In this connection, 560 bottles of assorted IMFL were seized and 25 numbers of liquor offences were registered under the NLTP Act. Khevito S Swu, Asst Commissioner of Excise (ENF) Nagaland in a press release said all the accused were booked under the relevant section of the Act. These raids will be carried out regularly and efforts will be made to ensure that those dealing in illegal liquor activities are penalized as per the law, it added.

 

SVC general meet

Dimapur, February 20 (MExN): The Senjum Village Council (SVC) has convened a general meeting on February 22, 9:00 am at Senjum Panchayat Hall, Dimapur. Chairman, SVC in a press release has requested all the public to attend the meeting positively.

 

Kohima High Court Bar members re-elected 

Kohima, February 20 (MExN): High Court Bar members of the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench, unanimously reelected its present set of office bearers and executive members led by Ashiphri Zho for another tenure on February 18. According to updates from the Bar’s Election Commission, the present set of office bearers will remain in office for one more tenure. The team of office bearers and the executive members consists of the following: President - Ashiphri Zho, Vice President - Nchumbemo Mozhui and Imtisungkum, Secretary - Kekhriengulie Theünuo, Joint Secretary -  Joshua Sheqi, Finance Secretary - Limawapang Longkumer, and Treasurer - Seyiekuonuo Mere. Executive members of the Bar include C T Jamir, Sr Advocate; Kakheto Sema, Sr. Advocate; Povotso Lohe, Zhekheli Zhimomi and Vihielieu Suokhrie.
