DAYO extends support
Dimapur, February 23 (MExN): The Dimapur Ao Youth Organization (DAYO) came out in support of various civil society organizations for their efforts in addressing matters of social concern. In a press release received on Sunday, DAYO extended its support to the demand made by the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) to close down all liquor outlets within 7 days. It also pledged support to the Central Nagaland Tribes Council’s (CNTC) appeal made to all GBs, chairmen and colony councils to penalize landlords and house owners on whole properties liquor outlets are operated. Meanwhile, DAYO also appreciated the Naga Students’ Federation for voicing out against ‘rampant practice of backdoor appointments in all government departments.’
FGD conducted in Wokha
Wokha, February 23 (MExN): Interpersonal Communication/Focus Group Discussion (FGD) under National Health Mission, Health and Family Welfare department Nagaland was conducted in Wokha district from January 29 to February 15. Topics on maternal health, child health, family planning and adolescent health were discussed with participants. As per a press release from CMO office, Wokha, altogether 16 villages participated in the FGD. ASHAs, ASHA co-ordinators, District Community Mobilizer and District Media Officer took part in the discussions, where health issues faced by the villagers were taken into account. FGD in villages such as Meriyan, Bhandari village, Merapani, Totsu and Tsopo saw participants who sought for better coordination between villagers and health workers to improve health services in their areas.
NSCN (R) removes one
Dimapur, February 23 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) has removed Deon Swu, Deputy Secretary from both active and primary membership of the Party/Government with immediate effect. As per a press release through MIP, NSCN/GPRN (Reformation), Deon, on being reported from various quarters of “misusing his position,” the Chief Secretary's Office summoned him twice to appear before the Competent Authorities to make his stands and to testify. “However on both occasions, he failed to comply.” As such, his failure to comply with the directives is considered a “willful defilement” of the Ahza and “hence removes him from all responsibilities on account of being an “absconder” and a “deserter,” said the release. “Whatsoever, Deon is henceforth, no more connected with any of NSCN (R)'s affairs per-se, and as such, anyone dealing with him, shall be doing so at one's own risk and volition, which shall not reflect on the image of the NSCN (R) in any manner,” it added.
NNC mourns demise of CEC member
Dimapur, February 23 (MExN): The Naga National Council (NNC) has mourned the demise of Kh Salouni, CEC member, NNC who passed away on February 18. Son of Khulu of Zhifümai village, Shepoumaramth Region, Salouni took office as a Regional President of Shepoumaramth Region on February 26, 2010. Later, he was entrusted to be the Central Executive Council (CEC) member of NNC and “served wholeheartedly” all his life for the Naga Nation, read a condolence message from NNC Vice President, B Pashen. Mourning his loss, the NNC prayed that the “Almighty God” grant solace and guidance to the bereaved family members and for the departed soul to rest in peace.
