Adhere to restrictions along NH 702D, says MCCI

Mokokchung, February 29 (MExN): The Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) on Saturday appealed law enforcing authorities and those in logistics and transport industry to adhere to the restriction imposed along the  NH 702D (Mokokchung-Mariani Road). In a press release received today, the MCCI also expressed appreciation to the Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner for “timely intervention and taking precautionary step” by restricting plying of heavy vehicles and fixing a ceiling load on carrying capacity tonnage to 12 tons, along the route which is in ‘deplorable condition.’

 

DC Wokha imposes ban on hunting

Wokha, February 29 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha has informed all concerned village councils under Wokha district to immediately impose ban on hunting of wild animals in their respective jurisdiction with immediate effect. As per DIPR report, “reports and past experiences with Corona Virus and other respiratory viruses suggest that there may have been transmission of virus from wild animals to human and in the light of such event, prevention is always better than care.” In this regard, all the village councils have been directed to strictly comply with the government directive. The notification shall come into force from the date of issue of this order till further notice, it informed.

 

NSF informs on consultative meet

Kohima, February 29 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has informed the Nagaland state based presidents of the federating units and sub-ordinate bodies of NSF of a consultative meeting to be held at Oking NSF Office, Naga Club Building, Kohima on March 4, 12:00 pm. NSF in a press release has requested all the federating units and sub-ordinate bodies of NSF (Nagaland state based) to be present.

 

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao activities held in Tuensang

NOKLAK, FEBRUARY 29 (MExN): The District  Administration of Tuensang, Mahila Shakti Kendra; District level centre for women and Sakhi One Stop centre conducted activities  under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao from February 25 to 26. On the first day the programme was focused on skill development for adolescent girls, with the theme ‘Be empowered.’ The activities involved essay writing, drawing competition and extempore speech on the topic ‘Save the girl child, educate girl child’, ‘Domestic violence,’ and ‘Status of women in society and women empowerment.’  C Phuniang, SDO(c), Noklak was the key note speaker while the session was initiated by Niamkoi S, District Coordinator, MSK Tuensang. The second day saw a seminar on ‘Physical and Emotional Abuse’ which was conducted with the theme ‘Stop suffering in silence’.  Yitachu, EAC, Noklak addressed the students, while the resource persons were Herola, Case Worker, Sakhi-One Stop Centre (OSC) and Songmao M, Women Welfare officer MSK; DLCW  Tuensang.   

 

State external assessment of Kayakalp for Wokha held 

Wokha, February 29 (MExN): The state external assessment of Kayakalp 2019-20 for Wokha district was conducted on February 27 and 28. The team led by Dr Atsungla, Joint Director Health and Family Welfare department visited Dr Motsuo Memorial District Hospital Wokha where monitoring and assessment of the health facility was conducted.  The team interacted with Chief Medical Officer Wokha, Medical Superintendent and medical officers. Meanwhile, meetings with staff of Sanis and Bhandari Community Health Centres (CHC) were held where Dr Atsungla stressed on the importance of teamwork and efficiency. The team later conducted assessment in both the CHCs. Kayakalp is a clean hospital initiative by Ministry of Health and Family, Government of India to promote cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices in public health care facilities.
