DNSU ‘shocked’ over rampant liquor, despite warnings

Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) has expressed “shock over the rampant sale of liquor even after repeated warning by Excise & Police.” DNSU in a press release said the union on receiving complaints from individuals monitored two separate locations and found out that illegal sale of liquor was taking place. Raids were carried out below fly over near railway station with the assistance of ACP 'A' Seyiesezo Peseyie and East PS officer-in-charge RK Patron, where 641 bottles of IMFL of different brand and size were seized. Another raid was carried out jointly with Sub-Urban Police Station led by OC Picto Achumi near Durga Mandir where 4705 bottles of IMFL were seized. The union further informed of conducting raids jointly with Excise and Police and urged the general public to extend “fullest cooperation.”

 

NGBF emergency meet

Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): The Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) has convened an emergency meeting on March 4, 10:00 am at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur. NGBF Media Secretary, Akhu Naga in a press release has requested all the office bearers and executive members to attend the meeting without fail.

 

Zeliang’s Mlei-ngyi festival from March 9

Peren, March 1 (MExN): The Jalukie Pumling Nko (JPN), Nagaland and the Chairman of the 14 villages under Jalukie have conveyed Mlei-ngyi greetings to the Zelaing community. The festival, usually celebrated in the month ‘Mdui’ - March 9 onwards is considered one of the most important festivals of the Zeliang people.  It marks the self purification and the advent of a new farming season seeking God’s blessings for health and productive farming year. JPN Chairman, Kumui Nring in a press release said the festival is a weeklong event involving a sequential day-by-day activities like traditional fire-making, merry-making and traditional games and sports. It has requested everyone to get prepared for a cheerful and successful joint festivity.

 

NSCN (IM) offers condolence 

Hebron, March 1 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has mourned the untimely demise of Phushito Awomi, Razou Peyu of Union Territory (UT) from Nihoto village on February 29. He joined the Naga national service on October 13, 2015 and served the Naga nation with unwavering national spirit until his demise, said a condolence message issued by its MIP. “For his selfless contribution to the Naga national cause, his name shall be recorded in the pages of the Naga history and his sacrifice for Naga nation ever be cherished by all.” The NSCN (IM) conveyed deep condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.

 

MSK Phek visits New Creation School Sekrezu

Kohima, March 1 (MExN): Phek district administration and district level centre for women Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) Phek visited New Creation School, Sekrezu town on February 25 last, to encourage and support the children focusing on creating awareness towards educating a girl child. Under BBBP, around 240 students were supported in handicrafts training like weaving and basket making. The programme was chaired by Vesonu Vasa. Rev Veküso Swuro, Principal New Creation School, Sekhrezu acknowledged Phek administration and MSK team for their contribution towards the holistic development of the school.  Vilenuo Kapu, Women Welfare Officer DLCW - Mahila Shakti Kendra, Phek highlighted BBBP activities conducted in the district.  She also encouraged the students to achieve greater heights and continue spreading positive ripple effect for the society.

 

SAMETI Medziphema visits Agri-Soil Chemistry Lab

DIMAPUR, March 1 (MExN): A field trip to Agri-Soil Chemistry Laboratory was undertaken by SAMETI Medziphema where Imosanen, Agri Inspector conducted a demonstration on soil sample collection. This was followed by discussion and interaction.  The valedictory function was chaired by Tiajungla Longchar, DPD SAMETI, while feedback on the training was given by Neitouzo, ATM Kohima and Moanenla Jamir, ATM Kiphire. Dr Watimongla Jamir, Director SAMETI & Principal IETC in her valedictory speech said that soil testing and soil management are the most important factors in ensuring overall agricultural growth.  She encouraged the participants to always recommend crops to farmers based on the soil type of the area so as to avoid crop failure and economic loss. She remarked that soil should be conserved and managed efficiently as this entity is the main source of bringing food on the table for mankind.  The training programme concluded with distribution of certificates to the participants by Incharge Director SAMETI & Principal IETC while vote of thanks was proposed by Janet Chishi, DPD SAMETI.
