48 penalised under NLTP Act in Dmp from Feb 25 to March 1
DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): The Excise Department today informed that 4759 bottles of assorted IMLF and 2166 litres of country liquor were seized during its prohibition drive in and around Dimapur Town as well as from the checkgates during the period from February 25 to March 1. A press release from the Deputy Commissioner of Excise informed that 48 accused were penalized under sections of the NLTP Act 1989. The department stated that it would continue to put efforts to thwart any illegal operation/business in liquor by anti social elements “despite its scarce field strength.” Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Excise, Dimapur informed that 840 bottles of IMFL were recovered from a vehicle on March 1 at the Choumukedima check gate. In this connection, one person was arrested and booked. The excise duty party was led by Allen Jami, AIE (I/C); Kiyelu, Head Constable and constables Tsuknung, Akahoto, Khekavi, Thejong, Khalenthong, Tsathongli, and Kiyerangzaile.
Aoyimti, Eralibill & K Hollohon villages issue traffic advisory
DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): The Joint Council of Aoyimti Village, Eralibill Village and K Hollohon Village today informed all concerned that heavy vehicles would not be allowed to ply along the section of road which is under construction around the three villages. A joint statement from the three village councils informed that the construction works began on February 26 and restriction on movement of heavy vehicles would be placed till further notice.
Dimapur dist admin issues order banning hunting
DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): The Dimapur District Administration has informed all to refrain from hunting of wild animals which increases the chances of contact with wild animals and wild animal products. This order was issued in pursuance of the Health Department’s advisory regarding outbreak of Novel Corona Virus in China and other countries as a Public Health Emergency of International concern. It further mentioned that as per reports and past experiences with Corona Virus and other respiratory viruses, there may have been transmission of virus from wild animals to humans. The order was issued by the ADC, Dimapur, V Lovitoly Sema.
FGN Chaklhesang region holds Leacy Hoho
DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN), Chakhesang region held its 60th Leacy Hoho at Satheri Village in Phek. A press release from the Speaker, Leacy Hoho, Chakhesang region informed that decisions were taken for the tenure 2020 to 2025. For this tenure, the Hoho recommended Serapra Shijo to be the Midan Peyu of the Chakhesang region. Nuveta Nakro was chosen as the Central Executive Council (CEC) member of the NNC, Chakhesang region while Tsorusa Nusory will be the president of the Chakhesang Regional Council, NNC. Meanwhile, the budget for 2020 was unanimously passed and the regional government informed all people to extend “willful cooperation to the government at the present situation of turmoil and confusion by upholding the Plebiscite of May 16, 1951.”
Finance Department informs
DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): The Finance Department in a notification informed that the State Government, on the recommendations of the Council has made amendments in the notification of the Government of Nagaland, Finance Department (Revenue Branch), dated June 30, 2017. The amendments made include that Schedule II - 6%, S. No. 242 and the entries relating thereto shall be omitted; in Schedule IV - 14%, for S. No. 228 and the entries relating thereto, the following S. No. and the entries shall be substituted, namely: 228 (14%). This notification has come into force since March 1.
NCD discusses tenures of councilors
DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) convened an emergency meeting of councilors on March 2 to discuss extension of councilors' tenure. The meeting started with a welcome address by President, Bangerloba and an invocation pronounced by senior councilor, Holuto Aye. At the meeting the members resolved to hold an annual general meeting before March 31, during which all official formalities including induction of new office bearers for the new tenure will be held. The meeting also resolved that in view of the upcoming Annual General meeting (AGM) various sub-committees under NCD such as Public Action Committee (PAC), Vigilance Committee, Trust Finance Committee shall be dissolved with effect from March 3.
