NFHRCC emergency meeting
Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): An Emergency meeting of the NFHRCC will be held on March 10 at NFHRCC office, Khermahal, Dimapur at 3:00 pm. The main agenda is to deliberate upon the motorable road clearance along the entire stretch of the Foothills Road as completed earlier at par with the concerned departmental work order, the NFHRC said in its press statement on Monday. All members have been requested to attend the meeting without fail.
Excise mobile squad seizes assorted liquor
Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): The Superintendent of Excise and Prohibition, Dimapur informed that 709 bottles of assorted liquor was seized from two locations in Dimapur by the Excise mobile squad on March 7. In this connection, two persons were arrested and booked under relevant sections of the NLTP Act, 1989. The seized items have been kept at the Malkhana for future destruction, the Superintendent informed in a press release on Monday. He further warned that anyone found indulging in illegal sale of liquor will be severely dealt with as per the law, and sought the participation of all the citizens in the effort to curb the flow and sale of illegal liquor in Dimapur by providing information to the concerned department about such activities.
One arrested with IMFL
Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): The District Excise Dimapur duty party, while manning Chümoukedima Excise check gate, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number NL 01T 9530, and recovered 388 bottles of assorted Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) on March 9. According to a press release from T Arilong Longkumer, Superintendent of Excise and Prohibition, one person, identified as Aren R/o Kohima town was arrested and booked under relevant sections of the NLTP Act 1989. On investigation, the accused disclosed that the consignment was purchased at Lahorijan, Assam and was meant for sale at Kohima.
Unidentified body recovered
Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): One unidentified dead body of a non-local male was recovered from NH-29 on March 9. The deceased, around 20 years of age, had a dark complexion and was wearing a green and blue checked shirt, blue and red color t-shirt, grey formal long pant and black belt, according to a press release from the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police on Monday. Inquest was conducted on the spot but no suspect of foul play or external marks was established. On completion of all legal formalities the dead body was shifted to District Hospital Dimapur for post mortem examination and identification, the release added. Claimants, relatives or friends of the deceased have been requested to contact Officer-in-Charge, Chümoukedima, and Dimapur.
Two arrested for drug trafficking
Longleng, March 9 (MExN): Two persons were arrested by Longleng Police on March 8 for drug trafficking. The arrested were identified as P Moba Phom s/o Pangkong, resident of Yongam and Yohan s/o Lowang from Yongam, presently residing at Oushok, Longleng. About 150 grams of brown sugar, concealed in a woofer speaker, estimated at Rs10 lakhs (approx) was recovered from their possession, Senior Superintendent of Police, Longleng informed ina press statement on Monday. Preliminary investigation revealed that the consignment was brought by a lady to NST station in Dimapur, requesting it to be delivered to Longleng, where the owner would come to claim the parcel. On suspicion of such transaction, the police party checked the consignment and found the drugs in 10 soap packets hidden in a woofer speaker. In this connection, a case was registered under NDPS Act and further investigation is on, the SP’s statement informed.
CPO general body meet
Pfütsero, March 9 (MExN): The Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) will hold its general body meeting on March 20 at Tourist Complex, Pfütsero Town. All the executive member, area president, frontal organization, president of Chakhesang Youth Front, Chakhesang Students’ Union, Chakhesang Mothers Association, all the VCCs and Village Youth President have been asked to attend the said meeting compulsorily. It also invited two representatives each from Phek District G.B. Association and from all the denominational Churches to the meeting. The meeting will deliberate on CPO 38th General Session ‘Resolution.’
