Chopper service on standby
DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 17 (MExN): Nagaland State Transport has informed to all the travelling passengers that the State Helicopter Service shall remain requisitioned on standby with effect from February 25, 2018 to March 1, 2018 for the ensuing General Elections to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly slated on February 27. Further, February 24, 2018 have been re-scheduled for the mandatory technical maintenance of the Helicopter and therefore will remain unserviceable.
Two detained for carrying excess cash
Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): The Excise Narcotic Cell personnel while performing Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) duty under the Election Expenditure Monitoring (EEM) guidelines seized a total cash of Rs. 4,16,800 and detained two people for carrying excess cash without any documentary evidence on February 17 in Dimapur. One of them identified as Ruksana (20) was detained at Diphu Road, while the other, Hussain Ali (49), was detained at Ghorapatti, near DDSC, informed a press release from Deputy Commissioner of Excise & Prohibition (NC), Kevisetuo Angami. Both the detained individuals and the cash have been formally handed over to the Dimapur District Nodal Officer, EEM Cell, the release added.
Restriction on log trucks in Peren
Peren, February 17 (DIPR): The Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Peren, Smita Sarangi (IAS) has informed that as per discussions held on February 9, 2018 between District Administration, Police, Forest Department and Peren District Timber Trade Union, there will be restriction on movement of log trucks within Peren district from February 20 till the process of election is over. Meanwhile, loaded timber trucks will be given time till February 23, 2018 to clear out from their respective locations, she added.
NSCN (IM) expresses grief
Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has expressed grief over the demise of Pewang Konyak, Deputy Kilonser, NSCN (IM) Konyak Region on February 16 at a private hospital in Dimapur. A condolence message from MIP, NSCN (IM) informed that Pewang joined the national service on February 21, 2009. “He had served the Nation whole heartedly with utmost sincerity and dedication in various capacities till his last breath. His demise has brought irreparable loss to the Naga Nation leaving a huge vacuum which would be difficult to fill,” the note acknowledged. “The GPRN shall always cherish the steadfast commitment and sacrificial service he had rendered for the sacred cause of the Nation with pride and honor.” The NSCN (IM) further extended sympathy and prayed to God to give spiritual strength to the bereaved family.
NPF 52 Longkhim- Chare A/C members resign
Tuensang, February 17 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) party of 52 Longkhim-Chare A/C led by Lisechem Sangtam, CEC Member, along with 420 members have resigned from both active and primary membership of the party “as the Party’s High Command has disapproved and neglected the voice of the grassroots area party workers, regarding the party ticket issuance, leaving us to lose total faith on the NPF Party Nagaland.” A press release from the CEC Member, Lisechem Sangtam further stated, “So, from this day on we tender mass resignation from the NPF Party.”
BJP Wokha disapproves violence
Wokha, February 17 (MExN): The BJP Wokha district has “strongly” expressed disapproval and condemnation of the damage of vehicles and other violence happening in different localities in the past few weeks, especially at 37th Assembly Constituency, in the name of the ensuing state legislative assembly election. A press release from the party Media Cell appealed to the people to “restrain from any kind of violence or damage of vehicles, properties and home by the other opposition political party workers in the days to come.” The BJP Wokha district further stated it will initiate prompt and befitting action against those behind spreading or encouraging any communal violence ahead of polls by taking support of the appropriate sections of the law and the IT Act.
AR apprehend NSCN (IM) cadre
Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): The Dimapur battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) apprehended one NSCN (IM) cadre on February 15 at Chekiye village here. A press release from Assam Rifles has identified the cadre as 2nd Lieutenant Pukhato (34). One .22 mm pistol with magazine and cash worth Rs 17,150 were recovered from the accused, who along with the recoveries was handed over to Diphupar Police Station, Dimapur, the release added.
Polling personnel training in Wka
Wokha, February 17 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon (IAS) has informed all the polling personnel in Wokha district who failed to attend the previous trainings that there will be a special training on February 19 at DBs Court, DC office complex here at 10:00 am. Therefore, all polling personnel who had failed to attend the trainings have been asked to attend the same without fail. The DC & DEO in a circular further informed that there will be hands on training for polling personnel everyday during office hours at the same venue. Any personnel who have doubts regarding any polling procedures can come and clarify their doubts, it added.
Compliance for flag code urged
DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 17 (MExN): In connection with direction for use of National Flag made of paper on important national, cultural and sports events, all concerned have been requested that strict compliance of the provision contained in the Flag Code of India, 2002, Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 and adherence to the directives issued by the Government of India on the matter from time to time are ensured.
