One killed in accident

Mokokchung, June 15 (MExN): One woman was killed in an accident today in Mokokchung. She has been identified as Sentiyangla (25). The local taxi (NL 02 T 0919) she was travelling in skidded off the road and went down about 80 feet below NH2 at Mokokchung’s Tongdentsüyong Ward around 10:40 am. She and the driver were the only occupants of the vehicle when the accident happened. The condition of the driver identified as Mongtuba Chang (20) is also reported to be critical. The two were treated at Dr Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) and the female passenger was referred to Jorhat, but succumbed to her injuries on the way near New Camp.  

GPF subscribers informed

Kohima, June 15 (MExN): Office of the Principal Accountant General (A&E), Kohima has reminded all the GPF subscribers of the State Government that a list of “unposted items” due to wrong GPF account numbers and names forwarded erroneously by various departments have been compiled and handed over to the Sr. Treasury Officers for further distribution to Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs). All DDOs have therefore been requested to submit the corrected list directly to the GPF branch of the Principal Accountant General office or through concerned Treasury Officer for restoration. Further, all GPF subscribers were requested to submit collateral evidences for restoration of their missing credits. Since the 2017-18 GPF accounts are about to be closed, all the GPF subscribers were asked to submit their documents to GPF branch latest by June 29, 2018.  

Goods unloading time in Mkg

Mokokchung, June 15 (MExN): In order to regulate and ease traffic congestion within the Mokokchung Town area, the timing for unloading of goods from trucks/vehicles will be as follows: morning – up to 7:30 am, evening – 5:00 pm onwards (during summer) and 4:00 pm onward (during winter). According to a DIPR report, Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung has informed that the given timing will come into effect from the date of issue of the order for strict compliance till further order.  

Two arrested for kidnapping

Kohima, June 15 (MExN): Kohima Police arrested Sgt Maj. of GPRN/NSCN identified as Vilhou Kengurusie (29) and his accomplice Sinilo Bukh (38) for kidnapping and ransom on June 14. A press release from PRO, Kohima Police informed that the victim, a resident of PWD colony, Kohima, was kidnapped from his home the same day and kept confined in an unknown location after which demand of ransom was made to the father. The victim’s father then negotiated the ransom amount to Rs. 40,000, which was paid to secure the release of the victim, it said. Sinilo Bukh was the first to be arrested by the police during a raid in a house. Interrogation of him led to the arrest of the GPRN/NSCN functionary from his residence at High School area, according to the release. A case of kidnapping and ransom has been registered at South PS and the accused remanded to custody for further investigation, it added.  

2600 bottles of cough syrup seized

Dimapur, June 15 (MExN): The Narcotic Excise duty party at Khuzama Inter-State Excise Check Gate seized a total of 2600 bottles of Codeine cough syrup (Elayik) from a truck bearing registration number RJ-14 GE 5402. In this connection, the accused/driver of the vehicle identified as Athokpam Kiren Kumar Singh (34) was arrested and forwarded to judicial custody, informed Kevisetuo Angami, Deputy Commissioner of Excise (NC) in a press release. The accused was booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act 1985. The release stated that the contraband drugs were found concealed below the seat of driver cabin. The case is now under investigation. The duty party consisted of AIE Nokcha, Head Constable Yekuto and Excise Constables Mangyang, Khrielie, Tongang, Abel, Hetovi, Aienla and Nyingpen.
