Gov appeals to participate in International Yoga Day
Kohima, June 20 (MExN): On the occasion of International Yoga Day (June 21), Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has appealed to all the people of Nagaland to participate in the movement initiated by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to promote healthy mind and body. “Yoga is one of the most invaluable gifts of the ancient Indian tradition which originated in India since time immemorial and has been universally accepted as one of the most ideal practices of mankind,” Acharya stated in a press release issued by his PRO. Yoga, he said, embodies unity of mind and body, promotes harmony amongst the people and nature, and encourages more holistic approach towards good health and happiness. He also stated that Yoga provides physical and mental well being of the people. Yoga is a preventive and creative science, the Governor added.
Committee on Petitions adopts Internal Working Rules
Kohima, June 20 (MExN): The Committee on Petitions has adopted the listed Internal Working Rules of Committee on Petitions under which any citizen having grievances in relation to a Bill or any matter of general public interest may petition countersigned by an MLA to the Speaker through Secretary, Nagaland Legislative Assembly who may present it to the House. The same will then get referred to the Committee on Petitions. A decision to this effect was taken at the first introductory meeting of the Committee on Petitions on June 20 under the Chairmanship of MLA Yitachu with almost all Committee members – MLAs Pohwang Konyak, Eshak Konyak, Azheto Zhimomi, Dr. Chumben Murry, and Keneizhakho Nakhro. This was informed in a press release issued by N Benjamin Newmai, Commissioner & Secretary, NLA.
No taxi in Wokha on June 23
Wokha, June 20 (MExN): In view of the upcoming All Commercial Vehicle Association (ACVA) Wokha district annual meet cum picnic on June 23, All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Wokha unit has informed the general public that there will be no taxi service on the said day under Wokha unit jurisdiction. A press release from ANTA Wokha unit president, Hayithung Odyuo and general secretary, Lipenthung Ovung has advised all the commuters to take note of the situation. The unit also informed all its members to attend the event without fail, adding that attendance will be strictly recorded.
DBS Annual North-East Cultural Competition
Dimapur, June 20 (MExN): The sixth Annual North-East Cultural Competition organized by Dimapur Bangali Samaj (DBS) will be held from June 22 to 24 at Shree Shree Ram Thakur Sevashram premises at Netaji Railway Colony, Dimapur. The competition will feature songs, dances, tabla playing, painting and recitation etc., informed a press release from the Samaj president, KK Paul. Prize distribution, felicitation of meritorious students etc. will be done in the concluding function on June 24 from 6:00 pm onwards, it said. The Governor of Nagaland will be the chief guest at the function. All the community members have been requested to take part wholeheartedly in the celebrations and encourage the participants.
DFO Kohima informs to collect Eco Club seed money
Kohima, June 20 (MExN): Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Kohima, Rongsenlemla Imchen (IFS) has informed all the school in-charge/teacher in-charge of Eco Clubs under Kohima district to collect the NGC seed money for the year 2018 from June 21 to 30. For schools under Tseminyu and Chiephobozou ranges, the seed money should be collected from the respective range offices, while for schools under Kohima range, it should be collected from DFO office, it was stated. The DFO reminded that a report of the previous year activity with photographs should be submitted to the office and also the teacher in-charge should bring the official seal before claiming the seed money.
World Music Day in Mkg
Mokokchung, June 20 (MExN): World Music Day 2018 will be celebrated in Mokokchung organized by the Mokokchung District Musicians Association on June 21 at Town Hall, Mokokchung from 5:00 pm onward. “There will be performances by a number of musicians from all genres and all ages, amateurs and experienced performers, from Classic Rock to contemporary music symbolising the harmonious phenomenon and unity that music has created on our communities without any discrimination,” the organizers said in a statement. The 2nd edition of the MDMA Junior Solo Competition will also be held on the day. The organizers also said entry to the event will be free for all and has invited all to join in the celebration of music.
New car pass for entry to Civil Secretariat
Kohima, June 20 (MExN): Home Commissioner of Nagaland, Ramakrishnan (IAS) has in a circular informed all officials entitled for Nagaland Civil Secretariat car pass that the format for obtaining new car pass to the entitled officials will be issued from June 15 to 30 at Home Department SAB (A). New car pass will be collected w.e.f July 2 during office hour at Home Department SAB (A), said a DIPR report. Further, the Home Commissioner informed that the old car pass will cease to be functional or rendered invalid after July 15. All concerned have been requested to take note of the same.
NNC & FGN joint meeting
Kohima, June 20 (MExN): A joint meeting of the Naga National Council (NNC) and Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) will be held on June 25 at 10:00 am in Transit Peace Camp (TPC), Kohima. FGN secretary, Thihü Khamo in a press release has requested all the central authorities, regional authorities and high ranking Naga Army officers of the “original” NNC/FGN to attend the meeting positively.
ZSUN to felicitate students
Jalukie, June 20 (MExN): Zeme Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has informed all the Zeme students who have successfully cleared the HSLC, HSSLC and undergraduate final semester examinations 2018 that the union is organizing a felicitation programme on July 10 at Women Conference Hall, Jalukie Town. The union in a press release has directed all the unit/units presidents and secretaries to collect the name lists along with the photocopy of marksheets and send it to the union’s office on or before July 8.
