Naga Army Raising Day

Kohima, January 2 (MExN): The Naga Army Raising Day (Golden Jubilee 1964-2014) will take place on January 3 at Sabraba, Chakhesang Region from 10: 00 AM onwards. Gen (Retd.) Viyalie Metha, Kedahge, Federal Government of Nagaland will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Gen (Retd.) Viyalie Metha will unveil the jubilee monolith and deliver a speech. Lt.Gen. Südure, C-in-C, Naga Army will also share a message. The golden jubilee celebration will be marked by release of souvenir, presentation of awards, cultural performances etc.

NNC terminates one

Dimapur, January 2 (MExN):
NNC (Non Accordist) terminated one of its central functionaries Dy Kilonser Franky Ovung on December 26, 2013. A press release issued by NNC (Non Accordist) Home Kilonser Hangping stated that despite repeated instruction/ information to all the members not to indulge in any manner of taxation from government department’s development project or business agencies, Franky Ovung charged 5 % tax from the local area development fund - Bhandari, without any authorization from the higher authority. Therefore, he was terminated for violating the organization’s resolution, the statement read. It further informed all the public/ government departments and business agencies not to entertain such person in whatsoever dealing to avoid further confusion.

ANPSA Kohima unit condemns

Kohima, January 2 (MExN):
The All Nagaland Private School Association (ANPSA) Kohima unit has strongly condemned the assault on Akivito Sumi, a class 10 student, who succumbed to his injuries on December 30. The unit expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed that God will grant them comfort. The unit, while expressing grief and condemning such an unruly act, has requested the law enforcing agency and the district administration for immediate arrest of the culprits and stern action to be taken against them.

NPF 45 Tehok AC meet held

Kohima, January 2 (MExN):
The Naga People’s Front (NPF) unit 45 Tehok A/C has convened an emergency meeting with Parliamentary Secretary for rural development & REPA on December 29 last at Mon and adopted a pledge for developmental activities under 45 Tehok A/C. The meeting made a suggestion to the Parliamentary Secretary, RD & REPA to give importance to the road sector for a viable communication. It also resolved to support the DAN consensus candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2014. Stating this in a release, NPF 45th Tehok A/C general secretary (adm) C.H. Yanboh Konyak requested the office bearers, executives, village NPF unit presidents and senior leaders of the constituency to extend their cooperation for further development in the area.

Zunheboto DPDB meet postponed

Kohima, January 2 (MExN):
The monthly meeting of Zunheboto District Planning & Development Board scheduled on January 8 has been postponed to January 15. Time and venue remains the same, according to a release issued by K. Sekhamo, District Planning Officer & member secretary Zunheboto DPDB. All the members have been requested to take note of the same and attend the meeting positively.

GKD general meeting

Dimapur, January 2 (MExN):
Ghokimi Kuposhukulu Dimapur (GKD) has called a general meeting on January 4, 10:00 am at its treasurer and banker Vitoxu Shohe’s residence at 2 ½ Mile, Dimapur. The meeting will deliberate important issues and programmes for the year 2014, said a press release issued by GKD general secretary. Therefore, all the bonafide members of GKD have been informed to attend the said meeting without fail.

GPRN/NSCN discharges one

Dimapur, January 2 (MExN):
The GPRN/NSCN, office of the GSO-I on August 16, 2013 issued force discharge order to S/Maj. Yangba, bearing A/No: 18076 of Tobu village from active military service of the Government. According to a press release issued by MIP, GPRN/NSCN he was discharged on account of “indiscipline detrimental to the interest of the Government.”

DSSU condemns

Dimapur, January 2 (MExN):
Dimapur Sumi Students Union has condemned the “inhuman atrocities meted out to the Rengma Nagas of Karbi Anglong by KPLT militants.” In a press statement, DSSU expressed that “unilateral action” of the KPLT militants causing death, burning down villages, granaries and forcefully displacing the villagers was highly unjustifiable. Further, the Union urged all the right thinking citizens to condemn the violence, while appealing the government of Assam and Nagaland to bring justice and neutrality at the earliest for peaceful co-existence.    

HODs of Longleng informed

Longleng, January 2 (MExN):
In view of the impending Lok Sabha Election 2014, all the heads of departments in Longleng district are directed to submit the entire staff list (including officer’s name and designation) to the Office of Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer on or before January 15, 2014, without fail. The list will be counter checked in the Treasury Office and Head Office, said a press release issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner & ERO, Longleng T Wati Aier.

Liquor seized at Piphema

Dimapur, January 2 (MExN):
MVCP duty party of 37 Assam Rifles recovered 89 bottles, 24 cans of assorted IMFL/ beer from Piphema NH-29 on January 1, 2014 in a Maruti van, bearing registration no. NL-07- 4490. In this regard, two persons, namely Neibu Angami (45) and K Angami (21) were arrested and handed over to the Excise Department, informed a press release issued by Superintendent of Excise and Prohibition Dimapur K Y Sangtam. A case has been registered under NLTP Act 1989 and further investigation is on. The Superintendent appreciated the 37 Assam Rifles for seizing the illegal liquor. Further, it informed that the District Excise enforcement personnel will continue to maintain strict checking to stop inflow of liquor in and around Dimapur town especially during the festive season.

SBAK condemns Dec 21 incident

Dimapur, January 2 (MExN):
Sumi Baptist Churches Association (SBAK) Aizuto, all churches under the association, and all believers have out rightly condemned the December 21 incident at Aghuito village junction.  Recounting the incident where one female missionary and her minor cousin sister were molested and brutally beaten up, and co-passengers were harassed and physically tortured by NSCN (IM) cadres without any rhyme or reason, a condemnation note issued by Media & Communication , Literature In Charge SBAK Aizuto called the incident most inhuman and barbaric in a civilized society. Further, it asserted that all right thinking citizens should condemn the beastly act.
