One killed in road mishap near Silonijan

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 13 (MExN): A Mokokchung-bound vehicle from Dimapur met with a fatal road mishap at NH 29, near Silonijan, Karbi-Anglong on January 13. According to sources, the person driving the vehicle was fatally wounded and died before reaching hospital. The sources said that an unidentified pedestrian was also injured in the accident.
The deceased was identified as one Sademnochet Changkiri, an advocate by profession. His wife survived with minor injuries, while a third passenger, said to be the couple’s son was unhurt, the sources said. The family was heading to Mokokchung to attend a wedding.

NNC (NA) cautions

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 13 (MExN): The Naga National Council (Non Accordist) has cautioned all ranks and files of both the civil and army wings against indulging in any kind of taxation in the name of the NNC (NA), especially in Dimapur and Kohima areas, without knowledge and authorization of the Chaplee department. A press note from the Finance Kilonser of NNC (NA) informed that this order has been initiated due to “rampant collection of contribution and donation by individuals” and termed this as “multiple taxation.” It further directed government departments, private establishments, companies, business enterprises etc not to entertain such kind of taxation unless proper authorization/assignment order is shown to the concerned authority. KMC CEO informs

Kohima, January 13 (MExN): In view of the forthcoming Republic Day on January 26, Kohima Municipal Council CEO Elizabeth Ngully has directed all the shops, establishments, institutions, agencies etc within the jurisdiction of Kohima municipality to “sweep, clean, wash, paint, white wash the front side of the buildings and shops facing the roadside” on or before January 22, 2014 to “face-lift” the capital. All the shops and business establishments have also been requested to hoist National Flag on top of their shops and buildings by 6:00 am on January 26 in honour of Republic Day. The national flag should not be smaller than 450X300 mm, the chief executive officer said in a press release.  

NAAME to organize
4th Mt. Japfu trekking


Kohima, January 13 (MExN): NAAME will be organizing the 4th Mt. Japfu trekking, a non competitive event on January 18 with the theme “Save our mountains, stop burning.” Dr. Akho Yhokha, Retd additional director, veterinary and animal husbandry and NAAME patron member will flag off the trekking at Pony Farm, above Japfu Christian College, Kigwema at 7:00 AM. All the NAAME members and well wishers have been requested to join the same.

Rain water harvesting
in Sukhalu village


Zunheboto, January 13 (MExN): A water harvesting structure under New Initiative Scheme (MMA) at Sukhalu Village was inaugurated by G Kiyevii, District Agriculture Officer, Zunheboto on January 8. Department of Agriculture constructed the water tank to collect rain during rainy season to be used for domestic and irrigation purpose. A press release received here stated that the farmers of the village expressed delight for the initiative.

NPBCA calls meeting

Dimapur, January 13 (MExN): Nagaland Police Baptist Churches Association (NPBCA), in view of the forthcoming jubilee celebration from February 3 to 5, 2014, has called a meeting of all its Jubilee Planning Board members and committee convenors on January 15, 2014, 10:00 am at NPBCA Mission Compound. Therefore, Rev Dr N Mong Lotha has requested all the committee convenors to attend the meeting with committee preparation update reports regarding the jubilee.
