CM to lay Medical College
foundation stone on March 3


Kohima, March 1 (DIPR): Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio will lay the foundation stone of Nagaland Medical College, Kohima at 12:00 noon at Phriebagei, Kohima on March 3. The programme will be chaired by Chief Secretary Nagaland, Banuo Z. Jamir, IAS, while invocation prayer will be said by General Secretary, NBCC, Rev. Dr. L. Anjo Keikung. Welcome song will be presented by Üsou Musical School, Kohima and felicitation by Chairman, Kohima Village council. Brief introduction of the Medical College will be given by Commissioner & Secretary Health & Family Welfare, Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS. Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Imkong L. Imchen, will propose vote of thanks.

DMC fixes new pork price

Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): In view of the joint representation submitted to its office for enhancement of wholesale and retail rates of pork sale, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has reviewed and fixed the rates as follows: Pork (Wholesale) – Rs 130/- per kg; Pork retail (Dressed) – Rs 170 per kg; Offal (Head, hoof, intestine, liver, spleen, kidney etc) – Rs 140/- per kg. A press release issued by DMC administrator cum additional deputy commissioner, Dimapur, K Tarep Imchen informed that the above prescribed rate is the maximum amount fixed by DMC, as such, butchers have been directed to provide quality and hygienic meat to the customers. They have also been directed to hang the weighing scale at least one foot above the butchers’ table. The stall has to be dust and fly proof. No increase of price will be allowed without substantiated by genuine documents, the release stated. The additional deputy commissioner cautioned that failing to comply with the above instruction, he will be bound to take appropriate action as per provisions of Act, which may lead to imposition of heavy penalty. The rate will be enforced with immediate effect, he added.      

Landowners under Purana
Bazar ‘B’ Bokajan informed


Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): The Land Owners’ Union Purana Bazar ‘B’ (Bokajan) during its general meeting on March 1 at Sumi church site resolved that every landowner should take up developmental activities at their respective plot within 15 days. All the landowners and allotees under Purana Bazar ‘B’ Bokajan have been informed that failing to do so, a joint verification will be conducted on March 31, and action will be initiated upon the defaulters leading to cancellation of the plot of land concerned. It also resolved that whoever claims land under its jurisdiction with patta (Jamabandi) without NOC from the village authority would not be accepted at any cost. The Union chairman Vitoho T Yeptho and secretary Mulomo Kiho in a press release further informed that all the landowners are to attend the final verification on March 31, 2014.

PVSU condoles

Wokha, March 1 (MExN): Pongidong Village Students’ Union (PVSU) has condoled the demise of Yantangrhomo Humtsoe, the father of incumbent VDB secretary of Pongidong, Nyimbemo Humtsoe on February 25 at Pongidong Village. The Union in a condolence message expressed its sorrow and grief to the bereaved family members and prayed to the almighty to grant them comfort and solace. The union also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.  

Power department informs

Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): Executive engineer, Dimapur electrical division, Er. Moameren has informed all concerned that the department of power, office of the executive engineer, Dimapur electrical division has entrusted TATA Consultancy Services to collect data from consumer premises for Consumer Indexing. Therefore, all the costumers have been requested to give co-operation. Further, consumers have been asked to report to the authority concerned if any person in the name of the mentioned firm collect or ask money.

Longsa Village Council
meeting on March 5


Wokha, March 1 (MExN): Longsa Village Council (Wokha) has convened a general meeting on March 5 at Community Hall Longsa at 8:00 am. Therefore, all the public and members of Wokha Town Longsa Hoho, Kohima Longsa Hoho and Dimapur Longsa Ekhung have been requested to attend the meeting positively. This was informed in a press release issued by Zayio Ezung, Chairman, Longsa Village, Wokha.

RTI sensitization cum
interaction in Longleng


Longleng, March 1 (DIPR): RTI sensitization cum interaction session was held at Longleng head quarter on February 27, 2014 at Phom Baptist Christian Association Hall, Longleng. Chief Information Commissioner Nagaland, Lalhuma gave the introductory remarks and a brief PowerPoint presentation. He pointed out that RTI Act is unlimited power of the citizen not only for individual interest, but also for the interest of common people. He also said that every citizen needs to seek information about the developmental activities through PIOs and APIOs. The programme was chaired by ADC Longleng, Wati Aier while welcome address was delivered by DC Longleng. Vote of thanks was proposed by State Information Commissioner Bukchem Phom. RTI film on ‘My Right, My Voice’ was also screened during the programme. The programme was attended by all development officials, NGOs, Phom People Council and Phomla Hoichem.

State finance commission
visits Medziphema


Medziphema, March 1 (DIPR): The 2nd Nagaland State Finance Commission had a meeting at ADC Dobashis’ Court Medziphema on February 28. The team led by Chairman, E.T. Sunep IAS (Retd), K. Heni, Retd. Secretary, Finance, and G.W. Lee, Retd Director, Treasuries & Accounts had an interactive meeting with the urban local bodies. The meeting was chaired by Gregory Thejawelie, ADC Medziphema. The Commission had a long session with the Administration, GBs, women leaders, town council, colony Chairmen, youth leaders and public leaders of Medziphema town. The local bodies shared their grievances and problem with the team on various issues like road connectivity, electricity, hospital services, education etc.
