All Nagaland teacher educators’ conference

Kohima, May 4 (MExN): The first All Nagaland Teacher Educators Conference under the aegis of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) will take place on May 10 at SIEMAT Conference Hall, SCERT, Kohima at 10:00 AM. Toshi Wungtong, advisor IPR, SCERT & Village Guard will grace the occasion as guest speaker. Menukhol John, principal secretary for school education & SCERT and Prof. MA Siddiqui, former chairperson National Council of Teacher Education will also address the conference.  

AR claims arrest of NSCN (K) cadre

Kohima, May 4 (MExN): The Assam Rifles have claimed the arrest of an NSCN (K) cadre from High School Junction, Kohima on May 2. According to a press release, the Chieswema Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted an operation and apprehended an individual indentified as one Lieutenant Athrong Sangtam, 31, of the NSCN (K). Extortion slip belonging to the NSCN (K) and cash amounting to Rs 2,000 was recovered from the individual’s possession, the AR release stated. The individual along with the recovered items were handed over to North Police Station, Kohima for further investigation.  

DPDB Tuensang to felicitate MLAs

Tuensang, May 4 (DIPR): District Planning Officer & Member Secretary, Tuensang, Nribemo Lotha has issued a circular informing that the felicitation programme of newly elected MLAs of Tuensang District cum District Planning & Development Board (DP&DB) meeting for the month of May is scheduled on the May 10 at 11:00 AM in the Conference Hall of the DC’s Office Tuensang. Therefore, all the Board members under Tuensang district have been asked to take note of the scheduled date and attend the meeting positively.  

Ex-servicemen rally at Jakhama

Kohima, May 4 (MExN): The Directorate Sainik Welfare and Resettlement Nagaland has intimated that an Ex-servicemen Rally will be held at Jakhama Military Station on May 15 and 16 for Kohima, Phek, Zunheboto and Wokha Districts. All Ex - servicemen, Dependants and Widows of these districts are requested to attend the same along with copies of PPO, Bank Pass Book and related documents, a press release from the directorate informed. Ex-servicemen are requested to intimate their attendance to respective Zila Sainik Welfare Officers to facilitate necessary administrative and transport arrangement.  

NNC mourns

Kohima, May 4 (MExN): The Naga National Council (NNC) has expressed deep sadness and grief at the sudden demise of Tsonüyi Venyo, Central Executive Council Member (CECM), NNC at his native village, Thüvopisüh. Late Venyo joined the national service on July 3, 1961 as Secretary, Razu Peyu and was promoted to Tatar FGN in 1987. In June 2015, he was appointed as CECM and has been serving the nation on that capacity until his demise. “He was a dedicated worker and strongly stood by sovereignty till his last breath,” a message from Thepushüyi S. Keyho, Vice President NNC stated. “His great patriotic deeds and sacrificial services rendered to the nation would always remain alive in Naga history,” it added. It further prayed that the Almighty grant the departed soul to rest in peace.
