Doyang bridge construction resumes

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 16 (MExN): Construction of the Doyang Bridge at Liphanyan, Ralan sub-division, Wokha has reportedly resumed. The Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) informed through a press release today that the works restarted about two days. Construction of the bridge, key to linking the Nagaland Foothills Road now rechristened Trans Expressway, came to a halt sometime in 2016 after construction began in December 2014 with a completion deadline of 33 months. The NFHRCC along with Dimapur-based tribal hohos had issued a 14-day ultimatum to resume work to the construction firm on November 3. Stating that the work has resumed, the NFHRCC cautioned, “The Contractor should not resume the work for namesake but the same should be done with full dedication and sincerity,” while adding that any further delay will not be tolerated. It further urged the PWD (Roads & Bridges) to coordinate with the contractor and to release bills timely.  

DC Mkg informs landowners

Mokokchung, November 16 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal, IAS has informed all the concerned land owners/other governmental/non- governmental agencies to clear up/ vacate acquired buildings, plantations and any other structures on the compensated area for construction of 2 lane Merangkong-Tamlu-Mon SARDP NE under Mokokchung District within 1(one) month from the date of issue of this order. He further stated that after the stipulated date, the acquired land would be taken possession by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Co-operation Limited (NHIDCL) for construction of the 2 lane without any further notice. “This notice has been issued for strict compliance and necessary action by all concerned,” the DC added.  

DWO Wokha informs NSAP beneficiaries, pensioners

Wokha, November 16 (MExN): District Welfare Officer (DWO) Wokha, Zubemo Kikon in a press release has informed that NSAP beneficiaries (Old Age, Widow, Disable) and financial Assistance to Blind and invalid for the year 2016-17 for nine months shall be made from the office of the District Welfare Officer w.e.f November 15. It further informed that those beneficiaries who had submitted their Bank Account earlier, their pension shall be credited to their Bank Account and for those yet to submit the Bank Account is required to produce Life Certificate obtained from the Church Pastor/Catechist for grace payment of cash.  

NPC welcomes ceasefire between NSCN K & GoI

Dimapur, November 16 (MExN): The Nagaland Peace Centre (NPC), Kohima has appreciated the positive move by NSCN (K) led by Khango Konyak, prepared to resume the abrogated ceasefire and pursue the Naga political issue with the Government of India. A press release from N Theyo, Chairman, Nagaland Peace Centre stated that it “welcomes the historic move and hope that peace will prevail and political opportunity is given to enable them to prepare themselves to dialogue by upholding the ceasefire agreement signed between the NSCN (K) and the GoI on 1st April 2001.”    

PAC, NCD condemns armed robbery

Dimapur, November 16 (MExN): The Public Action Committee (PAC), Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has condemned the armed robbery allegedly carried out by GPRN/ NSCN and others on November 11. While stating that some national workers instead of working for the Naga cause are extorting from its own people, the PAC appealed the public to be wary. The PAC also requested the citizens to be alert and cautious enough to report any criminal activity to the police. “We put our heads down in shame for these unscrupulous people who are just out to embezzle its brothers and sisters, totally forgetting the aspirations of its people,” stated the release.

No auto service in Wokha on Nov 17

Wokha, November 16 (MExN): Auto Rickshaw Union Wokha (ARUW) has informed that there will be no service on November 17 due to annual meeting cum picnic. The President, ARUW in a press release has sought public co-operation.
