‘World Malaria Day’ observed at Wokha Wokha, April 29 (MExN): Wokha district observed ‘World Malaria Day’ on April 25 on the theme ‘End Malaria for Good.’ The NVBDCP staffs under the establishment of Chief Medical Officer Office, Wokha in collaboration with the concern village authority took part in wide range activities to mark the day by carrying out sanitation drive in fourteen selected villages where incidents of Malaria is high. The main objective of observance was to create awareness among the community about the man made diseases and its prevention and control measure, and also to encourage active community participation with a view to provide health education, understanding malaria and its cause. A press release also added that in the district headquarter ‘World Malaria Day’ was observed in the CMO Conference hall in the presence of CMO, vertical programme Officers, CMO staffs and ASHAs and therefore, resolved with a pledge to carry out sanitation drive every year on April 25.   Wheel Chair distributed in Mokokchung Dimapur, April 29 (MExN): The Care & Support Society Mokokchung recently held a programme for distribution of wheel chair for people with disability (PWDs) at Ungma Baptist Church. The initiative was supported by 44 Assam Rifle Mokokchung, said a press release from the society. The programme was chaired by Akumtemsu CBRW, Director of C&SS while its Managing Director Imchawati Kichu delivered the welcome note and introduction. During the programme the Village Council Chairman Ungma and Pastor Ungma Baptist Church lauded the endeavors of the society in the service of the Welfare of the citizens of Mokokchung, the release said. The programme ended with a mass prayer followed by light refreshment, it added.   Induction prog concludes in Zunheboto Zunheboto, April 29 (DIPR): The 12 days Induction Training Programme (ITP) for Group B & C State Government employees of Zunheboto concluded April 28. The training was sponsored by Department of Personnel and Training, GOI and organized by ATI, Kohima in collaboration with District Administration. Speaking at the valedictory function, ADC, HQ Zunheboto, Nungsangmenla Imchen exhorted the participants saying, you are well equipped with all the official procedures and hopeful that they will be more effective in discharging their duties while encouraging them to share their experience and duties with their colleagues who did not get a chance to attend the training. Earlier the program was chaired by SDO (C), Holohon Yepthomi. The training was coordinated by Program Coordinator, ITP, Dr. Alem W. Longchar. All together 38 government employees attended the training.   Royal Foundation School Foundation Day held Phek, April 29 (DIPR): The Royal Foundation School Phek Town held its Foundation Day on April 27 in the school campus with Deputy Commissioner Phek, Murohu Chotso as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion the DC emphasized on the importance of education and stated that one has to be educated in all fields to compete with the rest of the world. While encouraging the school for upliftment in different fields the DC called upon the school authorities to continue their best effort. He also unveiled the monolith during the occasion. The programme was chaired by Pamela. Welcome speech was delivered by Thujoshelu Soho. A report on the School was given by Daihrii Luckson, Headmaster RFS. Vote of thanks was delivered by Bhakte, Teacher in Charge.   Health mela at Bade Village Dimapur, April 29 (MExN): A one day health mela was organized by the District Mental Programme Dimapur and CMO at the sub-centre of Bade Village on April 18. Dr. C. Kezo, Nodal Officer, District Mental Health Programme Dimapur addressed the villagers, informing them about the purpose of the health mela and what they can avail from it. Chairman, Bade Village Council extended gratitude for the yeomen service rendered to the sick and needy citizens of the village. Around 83 patients were registered and provided free medical check-up and medicines for both general medical illnesses at well as psychiatric illness. The community was also given awareness about the mental illness and treatment facilities available including the free mental check-up and medication at district mental health programme attached to district hospital Dimapur.   NPF coordination meet at Noksen Tuensang, April 28 (MExN): The joint co-ordination meeting of Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central Team and NPF 51 A/C Noksen was held at the residence of H. Imti, Area Treasure, Noksen Town on April 18. The Central Team was led by Apong Pongener, Working President and Advisor (Political) to CM. The meeting was attended by Tuensang Division led by Lusang Khiam, President, CEC member, and area representatives to Central Office Kohima, Tuensang Division and all the area office bearers. Lepshi Ao, VP NPF Central and In charge of Tuensang, General Secretary NPF Central Ako Leyri, Lusang Khiam, President Tuensang division, and Ngaku Chang, CEC Member also spoke during the meeting. About 500 members attended the meeting representing from all the 19 villages under 51 A/C Noksen.
