Sumi Hoho general meeting deferred

Zunheboto, January 28 (MExN): The Sumi Hoho general body meeting, which was scheduled to be held on January 31 at Sumi Hoho Ki, Zunheboto has been deferred until further notice. The meeting has been deferred due to unavoidable circumstances, informed Sumi Hoho secretary Vihuto Asumi in a press release.

ENWOD condemns gang rape

Dimapur, January 28 (MExN): Eastern Nagaland Women Organization Dimapur (ENWOD) has strongly condemned the rape of a minor girl, studying in Class X by three accused, on January 12. Stating that such act is unacceptable, ENWOD in a press release requested the law enforcing agencies to take immediate action against the accused and give highest degree of befitting punishment. It further requested all likeminded people to stand and fight against such crime in the future.

ENWOKU condemns

Kohima, January 28 (MExN): Eastern Nagaland Women Organization Kohima Unit (ENWOKU) has vehemently condemned the abduction and brutal assault of a woman in Kohima reportedly by Nganuo Kelhoukhrienuo Pienyu and her three male accomplices. A press release issued by ENWOKU informed that the Unit office bearers led by its president visited the victim at her residence and shared her pain through prayers with her family. The Organization has wished her speedy recovery, while appealing to the authority concerned to take strong action “so that justice be delivered to the victim”. It also urged the authority to award exemplary punishment to the accused persons as per the law “so that such heinous crime may not be committed again in our society in future.”

president condemns rape


Dimapur, January 28 (MExN): President of NPF Minority Cell, Dimapur has strongly condemned the “inhuman” Darogapathar incident, where a 23-year-old mother of two was reportedly raped by three unknown persons on January 18, in front of her family members. “This kind of criminal activity like rape, murder and threat will never bring peace and harmony; rather spoil the image of the society, hence it should be condemned by each and every citizen,” stated President Bishnu Bhattacharjee in a press release.   Calling it an extreme act of barbarism, the president expressed that civil societies, legal authorities and human rights groups should take befitting care on every citizen to protect their right to live with dignity.

WSTH condemns rape of a mother

Dimapur, January 28 (MExN): Strongly condemning the gang rape of a mother at gunpoint in Darogapathar on January 18 night, the Western Sumi Totimi Hoho (WSTH) has termed the incident as barbaric.  In a statement, WSTH president Ahimsa K. Zhimo and Joly K. Awomi appealed to all sensible citizens to condemn the act and rise up against such inhuman act “which is destroying the fabric of a peaceful society.” WSTH urged the law enforcing agency including Darogapathar Village Council to initiate effective investigation to nab the culprits at the earliest and also to award exemplary and befitting punishment so as to prevent recurrence of such “inhuman crime.”
