Western Sumi orgs meeting

Dimapur, February 4 (MExN): A joint meeting of western Sumi frontal organisations, SKK platinum jubilee planning board and other renowned personalities has been convened at Western Sumi Hoho office on February 8 at 10 am. Therefore, Media and publicity cell, SKK platinum jubilee has requested all concerned to attend the meeting positively.

Unidentified body found

Dimapur, February 4 (MExN): An unidentified dead body of a male with non-local features was recovered from outside Manipuri Hotel, below Flyover here on February 4, 2014. Addl Superintendent of Police/PRO in a press release informed that the body has been kept in the morgue of District Hospital, Dimapur for identification. Anyone having information about the identity of the person can contact OC East PS, Dimapur @ 03862-227607. Description of the deceased: Age – About 35 yrs; Height - 5’7” approximately; Complexion – Dark; Clothing – Checked shorts (boxers) and black sport T-Shirt.

Refresher training for peer
educators of IDU-TI Projects


Dimapur, February 4 (MExN): Bethesda Youth Welfare Centre Learning Site started the 16th batch of three days refresher training for the peer educators of IDU-TI Projects under NSACS-NACO on February 4 at the Centre for Community Transformation, Walford, Dimapur. According to a press release issued by LS coordinator, Longshithung Kithan, the training is held to strengthen the skills and capacities of the peer educators of IDU-TI Projects for effective harm reduction service delivery. The Programme is supported by EHA Global Fund Rd-9 HIV-IDU Project HIFAZAT and Nagaland State AIDS Control Society.

KMC reminds public on garbage

Kohima, February 4 (MExN): Reiterating its earlier publication in the local newspapers, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has reminded all the general public, business establishments and the wards within Kohima municipal jurisdiction not to dispose off waste/garbage randomly on the roads, but tie them up properly in sacks so it does not create any health hazard. Stating this in a release, KMC chief executive officer Elizabeth Ngully requested the general public to comply to the notice till an alternative solution for a dumping site is arrived at.

Dept of Geology & Mining
condemns assault of staff


Dimapur, February 4 (MExN): Two staff of Department of Geology and Mining, who were deputed to check and control the transportation at Tsurang Valley Coal Mobile Check Gate under Akuk village, Wokha district were “badly beaten” up on January 29. In a press release, Director SK Kenye, Directorate of Geology and Mining informed that the two staff, Thejamo Lotha and Longchi Konyak were beaten and the department camp was destroyed by nine miscreants without any reason. The department strongly condemned the “unlawful action which has demoralized the officials and staff who had been sincerely performing their duties in the remote areas to sympathize the coal mining so as to generate substantial revenue from coal for uplift of the state economy.” The department also appealed to all concerned to extend co-operation to its officers and staff in the interest of the state, so such actions are not repeated in the future.   

DDCF condemns NST grenade blast

Dimapur, February 4 (MExN): Dimapur District Citizens Forum (DDCF) has strongly condemned the grenade blast at NST colony here on February 3. In a press statement, DDCF vice president Khekuto Zakha stated that such incidents create a sense of fear among the citizens and disturbs the peaceful atmosphere of the city. Therefore, he asserted, such incidents should be condemned by all and appealed to the Dimapur police to nab the culprits involved at the earliest “so as to create a sense of confidence among the citizens.” The DDCF also appealed to the police to nab the culprits involved in ATM loot attempt at Duncan Bosti at the earliest.
