Akhei Achumi of Socialist Party (India) files nomination
Kohima, March 23 (DIPR): Akhei Achumi of the Socialist Party (India) filed his nomination before the Returning Officer, Nagaland Parliamentary Elections, 2014, Temjen Toy (IAS) on March 22, which also was the last date for filing nominations. The nomination of Akhei Achumi, 73, was proposed by ten electors from his Assembly Constituency. With this nomination, the number of nominations received by the Returning Officer is four. Scrutiny of these nomination papers will be taken up on March 24, 2014 at the Office of the Commissioner Nagaland & Returning Officer, Nagaland Parliamentary Election 2014.
Assam Rifles apprehends one with arms
Kohima, March 23 (MExN): Based on information regarding presence of an individual with arms and ammunition, 19 Assam Rifles along with Nagaland Police carried out search in Bayavu Hill area in Kohima, where one individual identified as Roko Angami, around 43 years, was apprehended. According to a press release, the team recovered one 7.65mm Pistol with Magazine and nine live rounds on him. 25 Spasmo capsules were also found from his possession. The apprehended individual was handed over at Kohima Police Station (North) for further interrogation and investigation.
ENWOD mourns member’s death
Dimapur, March 23 (MExN): Eastern Nagaland Women Organization Dimapur (ENWOD) has expressed deep shock at the untimely demise of Kumsanglila Phom, Joint Secretary, ENWOD on March 21 in Dimapur. Stating that she was an active member who had contributed immensely for the betterment and uplift of womenfolk, the organization said “her demise is a great loss to our people and the void will be difficult.” ENWOD further conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that the almighty grant solace in their hour of grief.
