Independent Party of 17th Chizami A/C to support Neiphiu Rio
Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): The Independent Party of 17th Chizami Assembly Constituency under the leadership of Kevechutso Doulo, Independent candidate, Nagaland general elections 2013, has “unequivocally” decided to support the consensus candidate of DAN government Neiphiu Rio, chief minister of Nagaland for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections 2014. A press release from the party secretary, Core Committee Zaveyi Kezo and convenor, Core Committee Nucutso Ruho informed that the decision was arrived at during the Independent Party meeting at Chizami Town Hall on March 26. The meeting also resolved to pledge their “unflinching support” to Neiphiu Rio, to “strengthen his visionary and unparallel leadership with greater vitality and role of developing the state and Naga people.”
OTC Yangli board meeting preponed
Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): The 37th Oriental Theological College (OTC), Yangli Board of Directors meeting has been preponed to April 4, 2014 at 4:00 PM at the college premises. Therefore, Principal Alem P. Thongru has requested all the board members to attend the meeting positively.
CIH, Nagaland celebrates 9th Foundation Day
Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland celebrated 9th Foundation Day on March 27, 2014 at its campus. Dr. Lallan Ram, Director, CIH in his lecture emphasized on the need to further strengthen the role of the Institute towards development of horticulture sector in the region, a press release informed. He enlightened the technical and field staffs on number of new activities that have been entrusted to the Institute by ministry of agriculture for horticulture sector in NE region. He praised his successors and the technical & field staffs of the Institute for their dedication & commitment in bringing in the Institute to its present form and encouraged the staffs to contribute in the same spirit. In the second half of the programme, number of recreational activities like flower decoration, foot race, singing competition etc. were organized for the staffs of CIH. Prizes were distributed to the winners of each event.
IRCS Mokokchung reaches out to village in Longleng
Longleng, March 27 (MExN): Indian Red Cross Society Mokokchung District Branch in collaboration with District Health Society Longleng organized an outreach/ multispecialty health camp at Yongnyah Village in Longleng district from March 21 to 22. A press release from Dr Takosunep Ao, Honorary Secretary, IRCS Mokokchung District Branch informed that free medicines were provided to 600 persons treated.121 persons with dental problems were treated, out of which 30 dental extraction procedures were carried out.111 persons with Gyn & Obs problems were treated. 131 persons with orthopedics problems were treated and 40 persons were provided with various orthopedics procedures. 237 persons were treated for various medical and surgical problems. Handouts (Cloths, Shoes, and Toys etc) were distributed to the needy ones and children. The Indian Red Cross Society Mokokchung District Branch has acknowledged everyone who had participated and donated to the Red Cross Movement.
Training for NPBCA Sunday school teachers
Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): Awana Youth Programs imparted seed planters’ training to the Sunday school teachers of Nagaland Police Baptist Churches Association (NPBCA) from March 11 to 14. The participants included 80 teachers from 30 unit churches and fellowship of different battalions and posts. A press release from the Association informed that the resource persons were Ahokhe Awomi, Richard Chettri and Clever Sangma from Awana, and S Mosha Chang, Education Secretary. The speaker was Rev Dr. Wati Jamir, Finance Secretary, NPBCA and the praise and worship team was from PBC, Chumukedima.
Medical camp organized at Pfutsero Village
PHEK, March 27 (MExN): 11 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQs 5 Sector Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp on March 11, 2014 at Pfutsero Village under Phek district as part of Op- Sadbhavna. The medical team of the battalion provided free medical checkup and medicines to the people. Approximately 333 villagers benefited from the initiative.
