Dimapur DC urges voters to come out
DIMAPUR, APRIL 6 (MExN): The Dimapur Deputy Commissioner has urged voters to exercise their franchise without fail for the upcoming LS polls in the state on April 9. A press note from the DC voiced out against the use of money or other considerations to influence people’s votes.

Jotsoma villagers conduct mass social work
Kohima, April 6 (MExN): The villagers of Jotsoma conducted a mass social work on April 5 in view of the forthcoming visit of Brigadier GK Bibby, CBE, Commander 15 (North East) Brigade, in connection with the inaugural function of the monument built in tribute to Major Gen John ML Grover, ML, General Officer Commanding 2nd Division 33 Corps and his officers and soldiers during World War II. The programme will take place on April 16 from 9:00 AM onwards. Release of souvenir, traditional gun salute, display of World War II antiques will also mark the occasion. Keneido Peseyie and Neingulie Nakhro will compere the function.

Travellers robbed between Kohima and Kiphire
Kohima, April 6 (MExN):  On April 2, around 1:30 am, four unknown armed miscreants robbed people travelling from Kohima to Kiphire. The robbers took all “valuable things” away from the victims, including cash amounting to Rs 27, 500, and three mobile phones. The vehicle was later released after “severe mischief.” Recounting this incident, the victims - Yankiu, joint secretary, NPF Nagaland; Rolen, former speaker of YAA; and driver of the vehicle have drawn attention towards the increasing number of robberies “everyday” upon travelers between Kohima and Kiphire.  In a press statement, the victims said the route is not safe to travel by bus or private vehicle during late hours. There is no police station nearby the area, i.e, three kilometers away from Chakabama in Phek district, the release added.
 
In this regard, the victims have requested the authority concerned to look into the matter and take proper action at the earliest. It appealed for police patrolling to be set up in the area during night time, adding, that would build some confidence among the common people.
