April 19 declared holiday
Kohima, April 7 (DIPR): The Government of Nagaland, Department of Home, has declared April 19 as a holiday in lieu of March 22, which was previously declared a working day.

Dimapur DC urges voters to exercise franchise
Dimapur, April 7 (MExN): As Nagaland goes to polls on April 9 from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, deputy commissioner & district election officer, Dimapur, N Hushili Sema has appealed to each and every eligible voter to exercise their franchise without fail. “Do not allow money or other considerations to influence your vote. Vote without fear or favour,” she stated in a press release. 

Drugs, liquor seized
Dimapur, April 7 (MExN): The State Excise, narcotic enforcement cell in its effort to check illegal smuggling of narcotic, other drugs and liquor in the state under “Election Expenditure Monitoring” designated by the ECI for the ensuing Lok Sabha Elections 2014 has geared up its surveillance duty in all sensitive areas to prevent any possible escape. On March 2, altogether 6 persons were arrested and 13 kgs of ganja was seized from Khuzama check gate. Another three were arrested at Chumukedima excise gate and 107 bottles of cough syrup, 48 bottles of rum and 150 litres of country liquor were seized from Dimapur town on March 3. Pitongse Sangtam, Deputy commissioner of Excise (NC), Dimapur, in a press release informed that all arrested persons have been booked under the relevant section of NDPS Act’85, D&C Act 1940, and NLTP Act’89. 

AR apprehends GPRN/NSCN cadre 
Dimapur, April 7 (MExN): 5 Assam Rifles on March 30 apprehended one GPRN/NSCN cadre identified as Hokugha Yeptho from Zunheboto. A press release from Assam Rifles informed that the operation was based on a specific input regarding presence of GPRN/NSCN) cadre. The team recovered one pistol and “war like stores” from his possession. The apprehended cadre was handed over to the Zunheboto Police Station. 

R&B minister condoles
Dimapur, April 7 (MExN): Minister for Roads & Bridges (R&B) and Parliamentary Affairs, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu has mourned the demise of Nitoshe K Shohe after a prolonged illness in Dimapur on April 3. Recalling late Nitoshe, father-in-law of Kikheto Y Sema, IAS, as an upright man who had tirelessly worked for the welfare of the Nagas in various capacities, the minister has conveyed his sincere condolence to the bereaved family. The minister sharing the grief with the family members also prayed for the almighty to grant them strength to bear the irreparable loss.

Grenade found at Jasokie Market on April 5
Dimapur, April 7 (MExN): GS Road Business Owner Association has vehemently condemned the grenade planted in a dustbin at the entrance of Jasokie Market during business hours on April 5 at 4:30 pm. In a press statement, GS Road BOA president meanwhile, thanked all police personnel and BDDS team for their quick response.
