Dimapur excise seize cough syrup 
Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): The Dimapur District Excise personnel seized 200 bottles of Codeine cough syrup (Rexcod and Daslin) at Chumukedima Excise Check Gate on April 14 at around 6:00 am. In this connection, one accused identified as Lobo Sumi, 29, of Satakha Town was arrested and a case has been registered under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940. Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition, Dimapur, KY Sangtam, while informing this in a press release has lauded the effort of the Check Gate duty party under the command of AIE Benjongwati for seizing such illegal drugs.

Mezo-Vihutsu Mechü Kehou informs
Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): The Mezo-Vihutsu Mechü Kehou will erect the Medziphema Village establishment monolith on April 22, 2014 at 10:00 am, Medziphema town. A press note issued by Thepfukrulie Rhitso, general secretary, Mezo-Vihutsu Mechü Kehou, requested all the Mezo- Vihutsumia to attend the program as scheduled without fail.

TUK condemns attack on Manipur deputy speaker
Kohima, April 14 (MExN): The Tangkhul Union Kohima (TUK) has strongly condemned the life attempt on the deputy speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly (MLA) MK Preshaw Shimray on April 9 at around 3:30 pm near Leingangching, Litan police station under Ukhrul district. TUK president and its secretary in a press statement asserted that “attempting someone’s life through planting bomb and gun culture is an inhuman, uncivilized, unlawful activity” as it threatens peace and brotherhood among the people. “After all, MK Preshaw is the mandated representative from Chingai 45 assembly constituency to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly.” Any misunderstanding can only be sorted out/ solved through dialogue instead of violent approach, the union stated. The union further appealed to refrain from such violent activities in near future, “as people of the community/ state/ country want to live in peace and harmony in this civilized world.”

NPF Minority Cell extends Bihu greetings 
Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): President, NPF Minority Cell while extending warm greetings to the people of Nagaland and neighbouring areas, on the occasion of Rongali Bihu and also Bengali & Assamese New Year has wished for peace and prosperity in the State. “The spirit of this kind of festival, unite the people of North East and instills new enthusiasm amongst all,” stated the president in a press release issued by NPF Minority Cell general secretary Mahendra Thousan. 

SAKK condemns murder
Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): The Sumi Aphuyemi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SAKK), the apex student’s body of Pughoboto area has vehemently condemned the murder of an “innocent” youth Kuhovi Swu, 31, allegedly by Kaito Swu at Ghathashi Town on April 13, 2014. The president of SAKK in a press release stated that such kind of barbaric and merciless act of killing should not exist in a peace loving society and appealed to the competent authority and Village Council to punish the accused “even up to the extent of life imprisonment so that such kind of incident may not occur again.” Further, SAKK conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for their comfort. 

STH condoles
Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): Sumi Totimi Hoho (STH) has expressed shock at the demise of Scato Swu, former MP Rajya Sabha on April 7 at his Satakha residence. In a condolence message, STH president Kitoli Naje described late Scato Swu as one of the tall and prominent persons among the Nagas  and contributed a lot towards shaping the destiny of the Sumis in particular and the Nagas in general. "The vaccum created out of his death will be difficult to replace," STH stated and further conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
