Dimapur, May 2 (MExN): The Aghunato Area Union Dimapur (AAUD) has called an emergency meeting on May 4, 4:00 pm at its banker, Akashe Zhimomi’s residence at Eralibil. Therefore, all the office bearers and executives of AAUD have been requested to attend the said meeting without fail.

NSCN (IM) creates dept to curb illegal activities
Dimapur, May 2 (MExN): The secretary of NSCN (IM) Union Territory, Khekuto Jakhalu, in a press release today informed that CAO, UT NSCN (IM), M Daniel Lotha has created a new department, “OSD (Officer on Special Duty)” under the Union Territory. The OSD, the release said, has been issued “strict order and details of assignment” to minimize all forms of illegal activities in Dimapur district. Therefore, all NGOs, NMA, church leaders and village or colony council chairmen and GBs have been requested to cooperate with the newly assigned officer. Modern College alumni lauds
Kohima, May 2 (MExN): The Office of the Modern College Kohima Alumni Association (MCKAA) has congratulated all the successful HSSLC 2014 students of the College. The Association in a press release wished them to achieve greater heights with more success and bring fame to the college.
IGNOU-B.Ed workshops
Kohima, May 2 (MExN): All the B.Ed students of IGNOU, under PSC- 2009/P (State College of Teacher Education), have been informed that the workshops for 2nd year (2013 batch) has been tentatively fixed from June 3 – 13 and 1st year (2014 batch) tentatively fixed from June 17 – 27. Program in-charge Runi Nakro in a press release said that this has been informed to enable the students to intimate their respective heads in advance for availing leave. The release however noted that the dates are subject to changes, in which case, it will be intimated to the students concerned.
SCERT starts monitoring ACL schools
Kohima, May 2 (MExN): SCERT has started monitoring Activity and Competency Learning (ACL) schools with an aim to cover all the districts in the State. According to a press release issued by SCERT project director, Kevi Liegise, ACL has been taken up as a very important innovative educational project in Nagaland. It is a system that incorporates all aspects of learner centred education that promotes creative learning based on activities and competencies. Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) is at the core of this system, Kevi added. Presently, the project covers 137 schools. The goal is to cover all primary schools within a few years, he added.
ZPO Dimapur mourns
Dimapur, May 2 (MExN): The Zeliang People’s Organization (ZPO) Dimapur has mourned the death of Anambe Diswang Jonathan of Poilwa village on May 2. He was a second semester student of Baptist College Kohima, informed ZPO Dimapur in a press release. The organization has expressed much pain at the loss of the “budding youth who had been a great asset to our society...” His funeral service will be held on May 3, 10:00 am at his home at Dr. Haralu Colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur.
CLL condemns “rape attempt”
Dimapur, May 2 (MExN): Changki Laisuri Longjem (CLL) has condemned the “rape attempt” on a woman by Nazmul Haque, an “illegal Bangladeshi immigrant” on April 25 at Unity Village, 5th Mile, Dimapur. CLL has called upon the authority concerned to deliver right justice to the victim and exemplary punishment to the accused. Further, CLL has urged upon every organization and right thinking citizen of Nagaland to condemn such cases. “Let us all join hands with restrictive measures to prevent such untoward act in our society.”
Rilan village condemns killing
Dimapur, May 2 (MExN): The chairman and village council of Rilan village Dimapur along with the Lotha community of the border areas of Dimapur have vehemently condemned “the brutal murder of Supongtemjen Imchen by Assam police near Indisen village on April 30 without any rhyme or reason and provocation.” In a statement, chairman of Rilan village cautioned that failing to take any action by the Assam and Nagaland administrations, the public living in the border area will take their own course of action and the administrations of the two said states will be held solely responsible. The Lotha community further extended condolences to the bereaved family members of the victim.
BJYM Nagaland condemns twin blast on a train in Chennai
Dimapur, May 2 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Nagaland unit has strongly condemned the two explosions on a train which killed one woman and wounded more than 10 people, two of them critically, at the Chennai Central Railway Station on Thursday morning. BJYM in a condemnation letter stated that such “an ugly and cowardice act” should not be repeated in near future. “Killing of innocent public/traveler would not solve any problem, but rather than divide peace among brotherhood,” asserted the note issued by BJYM general secretary Mathew K Janger. “Whatever the problem arises, it should be negotiated through political dialogue in order to maintain peace in the country.” BJYM also urged the law enforcing agency to immediately arrest those involved in the bomb blast.
