DDVCCA issues public appeal
Dimapur, May 14 (MExN): The Dimapur District Village Council Chairman’s Association (DDVCCA) on May 14 issued a public appeal to all villages in Dimapur district. Terming Dimapur as the gateway of Nagaland, the DDVCCA acknowledged the effort of the state government and district administration in manning the official borders.
However, we have a porous border with Assam and the government may not be able to man all the borders, it stated. In this regard, the DDVCCA appealed to all the villages bordering Assam not to be complacent in sealing the borders.
“Our state can be safer if only Dimapur is safe and our participation in sealing the borders greatly depend on the bordering villages and only a sincere and vigilant approach will make it successful,” it added. The DDVCCA also said that the district administration and state government should identify such border villages and extend all support to the village councils. It also appealed to the villages to give full co-operation to their respective village councils.
While welcoming the stranded people returning home, the DDVCCA also appealed to the returnees to mandatorily quarantine as per government guidelines. “The government may not provide the best and most comfortable facilities but your sacrifice for few days will ensure the safety of our people and our state,” the Association said.
DDVCCA also appealed to people not to by-pass the rules of quarantine period “as this virus (COVID 19) does not differentiate the rich and poor, strong and weak.”
It informed that Village Councils will not entertain entry into village jurisdiction without completing specified quarantine days and without proper medical certificate by concerned authorities. DDVCCA will insist on the SOP and COVID-19 guidelines, while accepting returning people which should not be construed or misunderstood as discrimination whatsoever, the DDVCCA statement read.
