
DNSU asks students to attend AFSPA, DAA protest Dimapur, August 9 (MExN): As per the directives from the office of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has directed all the schools/ institutions/ universities within its jurisdiction (from class 8 till master degree) to compulsorily attend the mass protest rally against Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and Disturbed Area Act (DAA) on August 11, 9:00 am at Clock Tower, Dimapur. A press release from DNSU Education Secretary, Daneil Semp and President, Sungkum Aier requested all the students to reach City Tower by 8:30 sharp. DC Mokokchung directs Mokokchung, August 9 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Sushil Kumar Patel has directed all the Government servants posted within Mokokchung Town to attend the Independence Day function on August 15 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex. The ceremonial function will commence at 8:40 am. The DC further directed all the district heads of offices to take the attendance of their respective staff on Independence Day and submit to DC’s office for onward submission to the Government for necessary action. The DC also informed all the village council members and GBs union of Ungma village, Mokochung village, Chuchuyimpang village, Khensa village, GBs of Mokokchung town and the functionaries of wards organization of the 18 wards and all the public of Mokokchung Town to attend the function. ADC Pughoboto notifies Pughoboto, August 9 (DIPR): ADC, Pughoboto Avelu Ruho has notified for proper maintenance and streamlining of the allotment of the ground in Pughoboto to different NGOs/ individuals/ organisations etc. An order issued prohibited use of any intoxicating/illegal substance within the ground premises. The conduct and maintenance of law and order during any event organised at the ground shall be the sole responsibility of the organizers, it was stated. The ADC further notified that loss or damage of Government property shall be compensated in full by the concerned individual or group. The hiring charge for the ground has been fixed at Rs. 500 for a day and Rs. 100/- for subsequent days to a maximum for Rs. 1000/-. Allotment will be strictly on first come basis subject to availability. Allotment can be cancelled at any time in the event of the dates coinciding with government functions. The ADC also directed that the ground should be cleaned and tidied after the end of each programme. State level watershed conference Kohima, August 9 (DIPR): Chief Minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang will grace the State Level Watershed Conference & Culmination of Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) as the chief guest on August 11 at the NBCC convention hall, Kohima. An overview of the watershed activities will be presented by, Director, Land Resources, Mhathung Yanthan, while Secretary, Land Resources, Y. Kekheto Sema will chair the programme. Other highlights of the programme include handing over of watershed development fund, release of book on ‘Best practices in success stories of IWMP’ and awards.
