Killing of Khampei Opeiham ‘unfortunate and appalling’: NSCN-IM

Dimapur, February 23 (MExN): The NSCN-IM has come out in strong condemnation against the killing of Kilonser Khampei Opeiham Konyak by unidentified assailants. Through a press release issued by its MIP on February 23, the NSCN-IM termed the incident ‘unfortunate and appalling.’ Further stating that, “Such dastardly crime should be condemned by all.” The NSCN-IM also reiterated that it is against senseless killings among the Nagas when “we should be devoting all our energies towards achieving lasting peace and reconciliation.” ‘This kind of killing is in contrast to what the Nagas stands for in the context of the ongoing peace process,’ it added.

 Maj Gen Ang Mai led NSCN/GPRN condemns

Dimapur, February 23 (MExN): NSCN/GPRN led by Maj Gen (Rtd) Ang Mai on Friday said that it is “extremely shock and saddened to hear about the cold-blooded murder of A Khampei Opeiham on the night of February 21 at his residence.” In a press release, Nyeiton Konyak, Home Minister, NSCN/GPRN stated that ‘A Khampei Opeiham had served as the Chairman, Konyak Region and Cabinet Kilonser (Minister), NSCN/GPRN under the Leadership of His President Maj Gen (Rtd) Ang Mai, and was given discharged on 12th July, 2023 on his request on health ground.’ “Thereafter, it has come to our knowledge that he joined the NSCN/GPRN and had been serving in that party until that fateful night. His death has left us in a state of disbelief and the NSCN/GPRN strongly condemns this kind of barbaric act,” he added while conveying condolences to the bereaved family members. 

Meeting of all legislators of 14th NLA on Feb 25

Kohima, February 23 (MExN): In view of the 4th Session of the Fourteenth Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) being summoned from 26th February to 1st March, a meeting of all the legislators of 14th NLA will be held on February 25 at 3.00 PM in the State Banquet Hall, Kohima. Stating this, Nagaland’s parliamentary affairs minister KG Kenye requested all the members of the NLA to attend the said meeting positively. In another circular, Kenye also called for a meeting of all the legislators of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) on the same day at 2.00 PM in the State Banquet Hall, Kohima. All the legislators of the NDPP have been requested to attend the same.
