
936 vehicle requisition from Guwahati
Kohima, February 25 (MExN): In connection with the conduct of the General Election to 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2023, the transport team went to Guwahati for requisitioning private vehicles from Guwahati, Assam. A total of 936 vehicles were requisitioned and dispatched to seven districts in Nagaland, on February 20 and 21 from Guwahati. The team was led by Jt Secretary to OSDs, CEO, office, Hito Sema, Dr Tinujongshi chang, Deputy Transport Commissioner, Nagaland, Lovikali Yepthomi, ACEO Rolland Merry along with six staff, stated an update from Media cell, CEO Office, Nagaland.
One man one vote: D’Block Panchayat
Kohima, February 25 (MExN): The D' Block Panchayat Kohima held a joint meeting with the Goan Buras and Youth Organisation on February 23 at its Panchayat Hall and after thorough deliberation; the house unanimously resolved for clean and safe atmosphere within the colony. It resolved to ensure one man one vote. It resolved that outsiders from other colony will not be allowed to cast proxy vote. No outside intruders shall be allowed to enter to any polling station. Any person whether from our colony or outside disturbs the polling process, severe action will be taken against them, according to a release issued by D’ Block Panchayat chairman Senokha Losou and GB Ruokuovilhou Belho.
License arm holders in villages of 28 Koridang AC directed
Mokokchung, February 25 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh IAS has notified all concerned that various law and order related incidents have been reported regarding the General Election from 28 Koridang AC. “Despite the issuance of the order, only a few Arms have been verified and deposited from the constituency,” the DC stated in a press release. In this regard, DC has ordered all the license arm holders in the villages of 28 Koridang AC to deposit their arms and ammunition at the nearest Police station with immediate effect. “It is also been directed that extensive search and seizure for both Licensed and Unlicensed Arms and Ammunition will be carried out and arrest of the individuals involved will be made in all the villages of 28-Koridang AC,” he added.
Mkg shops to remain open on Feb 26
Mokokchung, February 25 (MExN): In view of the ensuing election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly and the departure of the polling personnel to their assigned polling stations for conduct of elections and to facilitate the purchase of rations and essential commodities for the polling personnel, the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) has directed all the vendors of groceries, vegetables and pharmacies to keep their shops open on February 26 (Sunday) within Mokokchung Municipal jurisdiction. “No other shops except the aforementioned shops shall remain open,” Chumlamo Humtsoe, ADC & Administrator, MMC stated in an order.
NSCN (IM) condole demise of Major Etham
Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has mourned the demise of Major Etham Yongtishu, of Moba Brigade, Naga Army. From Yakshu village under Konyak Region, Major Etham enrolled in the Naga Army on January 9, 1993 and subsequently served the Naga Army in various capacities till he breathed his last on February 24, NSCN (IM) stated in a press note. ‘He served the Naga nation with unwavering patriotism until his demise. The void created by his death would be difficult to fill in. For his selfless contributions to the Naga national cause, his name shall be recorded in the pages of the Naga history. The Naga nation proudly salutes him,’ it stated while conveying condolence to the family members.
Suspension of free movement in Meluri
Meluri, February 25 (MExN): In view of the forthcoming General Election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, 2023, and in compliance with the directives of the Election Commission of India, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Phek has issued an order for suspension of Free Movement Regime (FMR) along the international border under Meluri Sub-Division from February 24. The DC therefore has directed that the Border Guarding Forces shall intensify their vigil along the international border and carry out intensive area domination exercises.
UAVYO call for peaceful polling day
Kohima, February 25 (MExN): The Urra Area Villages' Youth Organization (UAVYO) consisting of 13 villages, which falls under 3-Dimapur III Assembly Constituency, requested all its units to maintain peaceful environment on the polling day on February 27. Any individual or group of people or outsiders shall not be allowed to disturb the harmony and peaceful co-existence of the area, it stated. The organisation shall not held responsibilities of any unwanted circumstances, it stated, adding that “creating of such unwanted situation shall be on their own risk.” This was stated in a release issued by UAVYO President, Müdozhoi Shijoh and Secretary, Ghukiye Zhimomi.
Zeliangrongram colony resolves
Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): The Zeliangrongram Colony Council and K Sachü Colony Council, Dimapur have resolved that no outsiders will be allowed to enter the colony, accept the poll duty officials inside the jurisdiction of Zeliangrongram colony. The two colony councils made the resolution during February 24 meeting. If anyone from other colony enters, they shall be doing so at his or her own risk and responsibility, the councils stated in a press release.
