7th Mile Model Village Council condemns October 13 assault

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 29 (MExN): The 7th Mile Model Village Council has condemned the alleged assault on a person by Keneilekuo Zumvu and Kevechulo Koza presently residing at 7th Mile Model Village on October 13. A press release informed that the village council, on learning of the matter, held an emergency meeting on October 22 and resolved to relieve the two accused of any responsibilities held, if any, under any organization established under the village council. “The actions committed were unwarranted and without any empathy for another fellow men. While we pray for the speedy recovery of Aremchang Imchen, we also express our appreciation to all those who are exercising restraint so as to promote social harmony among all sections of the society,” the press release added.

AR apprehends two 

MON, OCTOBER 29 (MExN): The Assam Rifles apprehended a cadre and an overground worker of the NSCN-K (YA) at Tekkang village, Mon District, on October 24. A press release from the IGAR (N) informed that based on specific input, security forces, in a joint operation with State police, apprehended the two persons and recovered one fake extortion slip, two smartphones and “incriminating documents.” The apprehended individuals have been handed over to Tizit Police Station, Mon District for further investigations.

Gov extends Chaga Gadi greetings

KOHIMA, OCTOBER 29 (MExN): Nagaland Governor, Prof Jagdish Mukhi has extended greetings to the Liangmai community and all the people of Nagaland on the occasion of Chaga Gadi, an annual post-harvest festival. “The celebration honours womenfolk for their enormous contribution to the family. It is a time when religious barriers are broken and everybody comes together and creates harmony,” the Governor stated in a press release. “Our youths should continue to preserve and promote their age-old traditions and showcase the rich cultural heritage as they celebrate the festival. They should also understand and appreciate the underlying ancient philosophies. Let us celebrate the beautiful festival observing all Covid-19 protocols,” he added. The Governor further hoped that the festival of Chaga Gadi bring peace, unity and prosperity to the Liangmai community and to the people of Nagaland.

NSCN (R) greets Zeliang community

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 29 (MExN): The NSCN (R) has extended greetings to the Zeliang community on the occasion of Chega-Gadi/Lamsimngyi/Kwakpo festival, which is celebrated on October 30 and 31. “This is one of the most important festivals of the Zeliang tribe. The festival is marked by feasting, merry-making and thanksgiving, and is believed that the Almighty God showers blessings upon his people with rich harvest and good health,” a press release from the MIP of the NSCN (R) stated. It further said that the rich cultural heritage and traditional values are displayed during this festival. “May the golden values of honesty, respect, hard-work, courage and kindness be your guiding principles, and may you have a very happy and meaningful life,” the NSCN (R) wished. 

Chief Minister mourns

KOHIMA, OCTOBER 29 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio has expressed grief at the demise of Er Peter Solo. A press release from the CM’s office stated that “Er Peter Solo was a good and efficient officer, who rose to the position of Engineer-in-Chief, Nagaland PWD, by dint of his hard work and merit.” The CM described him as “not only a good engineer, he was a good soul, a simple and straightforward person, who treated everyone with courtesy and kindness. His death is a great loss to the people of Nagaland.” Rio further extended condolences to the bereaved family. 

Unidentified dead body recovered in Dimapur

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 29 (MExN): The Dimapur Police today informed that the unidentified dead body of a male was found lying at Naga Cemetery on October 29. On completion of all legal formalities the dead body was shifted to District Hospital Dimapur morgue for post mortem examination/identification. As per police report, no any foul play could be ascertained. “It is highly suspected that the deceased must have died due to drug overdose,” the press release from the PRO, Dimapur Police stated. The deceased was described as wearing black jeans, black t shirt and slipper. The police has informed claimants, relatives or friends of the deceased to contact the Officer-in-Charge, West PS, Dimapur (7085055024)

ADC Wokha informs 

WOKHA, OCTOBER 29 (MExN): ADC Wokha, T Lankonsen Tsanglao has informed to all listed applicants applied for Self Employment Program Individual (SEP-I) & Group (G) for financial year 2021 -22 under DAY-LULM that interview is scheduled on November 2 at 10:00 am in the Urban Development Office, PWD Colony (Old Wokha Town Council Building). All concerned have been requested to be in the venue positively. The ADC also requested all concerned to wear masks, maintain social distancing and use hand sanitizer at the venue.

DWO Phek notifies

PHEK, OCTOBER 29 (MExN): The District Welfare Officer (DWO), Phek, Anyile Khamo has informed that payment of National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) and State Welfare Programme will start from November 5 at the District Welfare Officer Office (DWO), Phek during office hours. Village/Town Chairmen have been asked to collect the said pension scheme of their respective village/town along with payment book and register of the beneficiaries. The tentative payment schedule is as follows: Chozuba (November 5 and 6), Kikruma (November 9 and 10), Pfutsero (November 11 and 12), Chizami (November 15 and 16), Meluri (November 17 and 18), Phek (November 22 and 23).

Kiphire: Verification for pensioners from Nov 9

Kiphire, October 29 (MExN):  Physical verification for pensioners drawing pension under Treasury office Kiphire is scheduled to be conducted from November 9. Sub Treasury officer N Yidemo Odyuo informed that the first phase of verification will be held on November 9 for Pungro pensioners in the in Treasury Office Kiphire. The second phase will be held on November 10 and 11 for Kiphire pensioners at the treasury during office hours. In this regard, pensioners have been directed to come for verification with their following documents: Personal pensioners portion (PPO BOOK), renewed pension ID card and photo copy of Aadhaar card SOP.

Meeting of Committee on Estimates on Nov 3

Kohima, October 29 (MExN): Chairman of the Committee on Estimates, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Zhaleo Rio has convened a sitting of the Committee on November 3 at 11:00 am in the Committee Room of the Assembly Secretariat. All members of the Committee have been requested to attend the meeting as scheduled.

Kohima, October 29 (MExN): MLA and the Chairman of the Committee on Subordinate Legislation, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Dr Chotisuh Sazo, has convened a meeting of the Committee on November 2 at 11:00 am in the Committee Room of the Assembly Secretariat. All members of the Committee have been requested to attend the meeting as scheduled.

STO Pfutsero informs

Phek, October 29 (MExN): The Sub Treasury Officer (STO) Pfutsero has informed all pensioners drawing pension from Sub-Treasury Pfutsero that as per CTR 368, the annual physical verification for the current year 2020-2021 will he conducted with effect from November 22 to 24 at 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The verification will be held at Pfutsero town area on November 22, Secheku area on November 23 and Khezha/Khuza Area, Chokri Area and others on November 24. In this regard, all pensioners under the treasury have been requested to report with life certificate, renewed Pensioner ID and pensioner personal seal within the stipulated date, failing which, no further payment of pension shall be entertained.
