
CAST, CALT condemns
DIMAPUR, MAY 14 (MExN): The Chümoukedima Ao Senso Telongjem (CAST) and Chümoukedima Ao Lanur Telongjem (CALT) has condemned the actions of two individuals who committed ‘illegal activities’ as informed in a public information notice issued by the Chümoukedima Village Council on May 11. A press release from the two organizations condemned the actions of the two individuals—Merentoba Imsong and Sentimongla Imsong, residents of Seiurüzha Colony, Chümoukedima Town and lauded the Chümoukedima Village Council for their timely intervention in handing them over to the authority. The CAST and CALT further urged the law enforcing authority to award benefitting punishment on the two culprits commensurate with the illegal acts they have committed. It meanwhile cautioned fellow Ao citizens of Chümoukedima from indulging in such illegal activities “that bring shame and bad repute to the union’s name.”
Chang Students' Conference condemns
DIMAPUR, MAY 14 (MExN): The Chang Wedoshi Setshang (Chang Students' Conference) has condemned the May 8 incident wherein a student was shot and killed at Zeliangrong Colony, Dhobinallah, Dimapur. “When all the section of the Naga society are relentlessly working towards peace and harmony. Such cowardly and spineless mentality is a threat to the society,” a press release from the conference stated and urged the law enforcing agencies to leave no stone unturned and award befitting punishment to the perpetrators and deliver justice at the earliest. It further conveyed solidarity and condolences to the family and relatives of the bereaved.
DDCF concerned by Manipur violence
DIMAPUR, MAY 14 (MExN): The Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum during its executive meeting held today on May 13 at Hotel Saramati expressed deep concern over the prevailing turmoil in Manipur. “The members unanimously and strongly condemned the loss of lives, properties, and attacks on the religious institutions there. It is to be noted that nobody gains in any kind of violence; instead, it is a loss for all,” a press release from the DDCF stated. It appealed to all to cease all forms of violence and try to solve the issue through dialogue and proper understanding and bring back normalcy permanently. The DDCF further questioned the sincerity of the State government as well as the Central government in solving the problem and bringing a peaceful solution to the “ongoing war like situation in Manipur without any bias.”
Karnataka verdict signals downfall of BJP: K Therie
DIMAPUR, MAY 14 (MExN): Former President of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), K Therie today congratulated the people of Karnataka “for standing firm against corruption and lies.” A press release from Therie said that the BJP’s defeat “is a clear indication that the people are tired and fed up with mere Mann ki baat without action.” “Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda and all the top leaders of BJP with the entire Government machinery behind them spent a month’s time and walked miles ignoring all other burning issues including Manipur. They were over confident with double engine. They also may have noticed that the double engine crashed hitting the back of the fore engine,” Therie said. He further said that the Congress’s victory with absolute majority has strengthened the opposition unity and Congressmen and women across the nation. “The Karnataka verdict has caused a deep impression in the ocean of Indian politics. The watch is over. There will be change in the Nation,” he claimed.
YAA mourns
DIMAPUR, MAY 14 (MExN): The Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) has expressed sadness at the demise of Lakhum K, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Fire and Emergency posted at Noklak District and former Education Secretary of YAA (2017-2020) passed away on May 12. A press release from the YAA honoured his “selfless sacrifice rendered towards the Yimkhiung student’s community during his tenure as Education Secretary.” “He was a dedicated, straight forward and a peace loving leader who served the people wholeheartedly. His demise has created a huge vacuum for the Yimkhiung community,” it added. The YAA further expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
Advocacy for health campaign in Peren held
JALUKIE, MAY 14 (MExN): The first District Level Advocacy on Integrated Health Campaign of Peren was held at DC Conference Hall and CMO Conference Hall Peren on May 12. Peren District is to pilot this campaign for Nagaland. The program was chaired by Vineet Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Peren. Dr Nukshisangla, Deputy Director, BSD NSACS gave a power point presentation. She highlighted about the aims and objectives of the campaign and the different testing, referrals and treatment to be made available under the package. The Deputy Commissioner ensured every possible help for the success of the campaign. Later, a consultative meeting with all vertical programmes was also held for Micro Planning of the upcoming campaign led by SETU.
Kohima DPDB meeting postponed to May 18
KOHIMA, MAY 14 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Shanavas C IAS has informed all DPDB members that the monthly DPDB meeting for the month of May has been postponed and re-scheduled on May 18 at 11:00 AM at the DPDB's Conference Hall, Kohima. Result of the best performing Village Adoption Committee (VAC) will also be declared with Award during the meeting. In this connection, all the board members have been requested to make it convenient and compulsorily attend the meeting positively.
