
One sentenced to 20 years for rape of minor daughter
ZUNHEBOTO, APRIL 4 (MExN): The Special Judge, POCSO Act, Zunheboto, Ajongba Imchen has sentenced one man (45 years) to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for the rape of his minor daughter. A press release from the Zunheboto Public Prosecutor, J Khetoholi Yeputhomi informed that the accused was also fined Rs 10,000. Further, the Special Judge, POCSO Act recommended to State Government to pay the victim compensation of Rs 8 lakh. This amount shall be paid by DLSA Zunheboto and the said compensation amount shall be used by the legal guardian of the victim girl for her welfare. The sentence was pronounced on April 4.
Light to moderate rain from April 5 to 10
DIMAPUR, APRIL 4 (MExN): Nagaland will experience partly cloudy weather conditions with light to moderate rainfall from April 5 to 10. A weather update from the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) informed that there is a chance that thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds will occur in specific areas of the districts of Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Tseminyu, Wokha, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Mon, Longleng, and Phek on April 5.The state's minimum and maximum temperatures will vary between 9°C and 36°C during this time. The NSDMA urged the public to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period. It also asked all District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments to be on alert to save lives and properties during this season.
