Peren DC informs

JALUKIE, APRIL 21 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Vineet Kumar has informed all concerned individual/villages, who have been allotted site permit at new site, Peren Hq to develop the allotted site on or before December 30. A notice issued through the DIPR said that failure to do so would result in the land being be taken back and site permit being cancelled without further notice. 

'Sufficient rice stock in Nagaland'

DIMAPUR, APRIL 21 (MExN): The Food Corporation of India (FCI), regional office, Dimapur, today informed that there are sufficient stocks available in the central pool to meet the requirement of NFSA and other schemes of the Government of India for the state of Nagaland. A press release from the FCI stated that as of April 19, approximately 43,954 MT of rice is available in the central pool which is well above the buffer norms /operational requirement. It informed that the allocation for January to March, 2023 including all schemes if 38,341 MT; and offload lifted by the State Government is 38,015.

Kohima: 1 arrested  with heroin worth Rs 35 lakhs

KOHIMA, APRIL 21 (MExN): Kohima Police arrested one person and seized approx 250 grams of suspected heroin packed in 20 soap cases from his posession. A press release from PRO, Kohima Police informed that while conducting routine checking at Kidima village along the inter-state border, the police intercepted one Maruti Alto bearing bound for Assam from Kangpokpi, Manipur. In this connection, the driver namely Sachin Limbu (36) was arrested and the contraband along with the vehicle were seized. During preliminary investigation, the total value of the illegal contraband was found to be worth approximately Rs 35 lakhs in the national market. Accordingly, a case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Kezocha Police Station for investigation.

DDCF meeting on April 26 

Dimapur, April 21 (MExN): Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) has informed all concerned office bearers that there will be a DDCF office bearers meeting on April 26 at 10:00 am at DDCF office, OC-8 Naga Shopping Arcade, Dimapur. All the office bearers are therefore informed to attend the meeting without fail, stated a press release from Media Cell, DDCF

New Vice Chancellor joins ICFAI University Nagaland 

Dimapur, April 21 (MExN): The ICFAI University Nagaland has announced the joining of its new Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Saundarjya Borbora on April 19. Dr Borbora has more than four decades of experience in academics and administration at various national institutes of prominence. In his welcome address at the university, Dr Borbora who has retired as a professor of Economics from IIT Guwahati, expressed his desire to bring in innovation, more laurels and excellence to the university in particular and to the region in general. He emphasized on the importance of research for university teachers and its benefits to the students and the society, stated a press release issued by the ICFAI University Nagaland.

One apprehended with arms in Kohima 

Kohima, April 21 (MExN): Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police apprehended one NSCN-K (Niki Sumi) cadre from the Box Cutting Area of Kohima Town on April 19. ‘One 0.32 Pistol along with a magazine and three live rounds were recovered from him. He revealed his name as SS Captain Alopo Yepthomi,’ PRO (Defence), Kohima & Imphal informed in an update. “Since last year, he along with other cadres had been staying in Kohima town and was reportedly involved in extortion activities. The apprehended cadre along with weapon and ammunition has been handed over to the Kohima Police,” the PRO added.
