Mere Yiemiako condemns
Kohima, August 11 (MExN): The Mere Yiemiako has issued a condemnation following the physical assault of David Mere, President of the Angami Students' Union (ASU) on August 9. The organization criticized the actions of the Assam Rifles, questioning their role as "Friends of the Hill People" and raising concerns about the treatment of innocent civilians in remote areas. The Mere Yiemiako called for immediate justice, demanding that the responsible jawan be held accountable and punished under the law to prevent future incidents of harassment and torture.
WCH holds leadership handover ceremony
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 11 (MExN): The Western Chakhesang Hoho conducted its official handing and taking over ceremony on August 10 at the Hoho building in Chakhesang Colony, Dimapur. The event marked the transition of leadership from the outgoing team, led by Kepfhelhou Koza, to the new team under the presidency of Dr. Chisoi Khesoh. Dr. Khesoh, the incoming President, thanked the outgoing team for their contributions and pledged to continue serving the community. The event also saw the nomination and approval of various committees, including the Advisory Board and Customary Mediation Board. The new office bearers for the 2024-2027 tenure include Dr. Chisoi Khesoh as President, Pretso Therie and Yietshulhi Ngatsi as Vice Presidents, and Keve Nuh as General Secretary, among others.
